Journeyman Electrician - PV & BESS

Ameresco’s federal Operations & Maintenance team has a new opportunity for a Journeyman Electrician experienced in inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining commercial solar and/or battery storage facilities. NOTE: This is a traveling position that will support facilities in San Jose, CA and Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities:

• Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.

• Reads and interprets instruction manuals, blueprints and control system drawings; applies knowledge to daily tasks under the supervision of the field supervisors and operations manager.

• Completes written and electronic records (i.e., work orders, calibration sheets, timecards, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed.

• Repair, test, troubleshoot, inspect; and install, remove and maintain solar site equipment such as batteries, solar panels, inverters, transformers, breakers, switchgear, and SCADA equipment under the supervision of the field supervisors and operations manager.

• Supervise and train apprentice electricians/coworkers to teach proper and safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.

• Preform Switching and LOTO on Medium Voltage Equipment for vendors

• Manage onsite Subcontractors in their duties of preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on SCADA, Medium Voltage Transformers, Medium Voltage Switchgear and BESS equipment.

• Willingness to travel extensively to support O&M operations.

• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Current California Journeyman Electrician.

• Minimum of three (3) years of industrial electric/electronic maintenance experience in the repair, inspection, testing, installation and/or maintenance of related electrical/electronic equipment. Working knowledge of Solar PV and Battery Storage is preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience or training with Sunny Central UP, Solectria XGI, Fimer/ABB series Inverters.

• Demonstrated knowledge of electricity, voltage and current relationships for both AC and DC circuits.

• Ability to successfully complete position training and testing requirements.

• Ability to push, pull, bend, stand, stoop, lift, carry, reach, climb, hear, see, and work on ladders for extended periods of time with hands and arms at heights to install and troubleshoot equipment.

• OSHA training and certification preferred.

• Ability to travel and flexibility for ‘on call’ support or varied schedule needs.

• Valid Drivers' License in good standing, issued by state of residence.

• Ability to review confidential US security information.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $40.38 - $58.41/hour (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
