Description
Who We Are
Verily Health is a data platform and technology company purpose-built to power AI-enabled precision health solutions that accelerate research and improve care for individuals and communities. Uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology, data science, and healthcare, Verily transforms multimodal health data into insights, models, and actions that make healthcare more personalized, predictive, and precise.
Description
We are seeking a Senior UX Accessibility Lead to embed within our UX organization to shape inclusive, accessible precision health experiences across web, mobile, and AI-native products. Reporting into UX and partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and AI/ML, you will define accessibility standards, champion inclusive design, and ensure our AI-powered solutions go beyond compliance toward intuitive usability for people with disabilities.
Please include both a resume and portfolio in PDF format (or website with password) when applying for this opportunity.
Responsibilities
Lead accessibility strategy across the UX organization by embedding inclusive design principles, interaction patterns, and standards early in discovery, concepting, and design critiques.
Define inclusive AI interaction patterns and evaluation frameworks for conversational, multimodal, and agentic experiences to ensure user control, transparency, and error recovery.
Partner with UX Research to establish inclusive research practices, validating design solutions directly with assistive technology users and people with disabilities.
Establish component accessibility standards, annotations, and documentation within the design system to ensure seamless, compliant engineering handoffs.
Educate and mentor cross-functional teams through playbooks and training to elevate organizational accessibility maturity across product lifecycles.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in product design, interaction design, UX research, accessibility, or a related discipline with a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
Deep expertise in accessible interaction design and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, including screen readers, keyboard/focus behavior, semantic structure, assistive technologies, and cognitive accessibility.
Ability to design and evaluate accessible AI-powered experiences, including conversational, voice, multimodal, agentic, and dynamically generated interfaces—with strong judgment around transparency, user control, correction, recovery, and potential exclusion.
Strong accessibility evaluation and inclusive usability research skills, combining expert review, assistive technology testing, automated testing, usability research, and meaningful participation of people with disabilities.
Ability to scale accessibility across products and organizations through design systems, reusable patterns, standards, tooling, and cross-functional influence from discovery through launch.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in product design, interaction design, UX research, accessibility, or a related discipline.
- Experience designing or evaluating AI-powered or AI-native experiences, particularly conversational UX, voice, multimodal interfaces, or AI agents.
- Experience developing accessibility frameworks, benchmarks, quality standards, or reusable patterns for AI-enabled products.
- Hands-on experience with assistive technologies and conducting research with people with disabilities.
- Experience scaling accessibility in large or complex product organizations, including partnership across AI/ML, Product, Engineering, Research, and Design Systems.
