On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) – 7 On / 7 Off
Up to $90,000 Annually | 7 Days On, 7 Days Off
Want to be part of an award-winning team—and have 26 weeks off each year?
Emblem Hospice is Tucson’s #1 choice when it comes to hospice care, and we’re looking for an experienced, compassionate, and dependable On-Call Registered Nurse to join our team.
This is a unique 7 days on / 7 days off position designed for an RN who enjoys autonomy, is confident working independently, and understands the importance of being there for patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments.
During your scheduled week, you will provide after-hours coverage Monday through Friday and 24-hour on-call coverage Saturday and Sunday. Then, when your week is over, you’ll enjoy seven consecutive days completely off.
What does an on-call week look like?
The honest answer: every week is different—and that’s part of what makes this position unique.
There may be days when you don’t receive a single call or make a single visit. Other days or weekends may be busy and require you to manage multiple patient needs. We’re looking for a nurse who appreciates the flexibility of the quieter times but is ready to step up when our patients and families need us most.
During your on-call week, responsibilities may include:
- Responding to after-hours triage calls from patients and families
- Making PRN visits for changes in condition, symptom management, or other urgent patient needs
- Providing daily nursing visits for patients requiring increased support at end of life
- Completing death/pronouncement visits and providing compassionate support to families
- Coordinating with physicians, pharmacies, facilities, and members of the hospice interdisciplinary team as needed
- Providing education and reassurance to patients and caregivers by phone and in person
- Completing timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Occasionally completing hospice admissions when needed
- Communicating important changes and follow-up needs to the daytime clinical team
Who will thrive in this role?
This position is ideal for an RN who is calm under pressure, clinically confident, compassionate, organized, and comfortable making independent decisions. Hospice experience is a plus, but just as important is having the ability to walk into an unfamiliar situation, assess what is happening, reassure a family, and provide the care and guidance they need.
At Emblem Hospice, you won’t be doing that alone. You’ll be part of a supportive clinical and leadership team that values communication, teamwork, and taking care of the people who take care of our patients.
We believe in recognizing hard work, celebrating our wins, supporting professional growth, and creating a workplace people are genuinely proud to be part of.
Why Emblem?
Up to $90,000 annually. Seven days on. Seven days off. A supportive team. Meaningful work. And the opportunity to make an incredible difference for patients and families when they need you most.
If you’re looking for more than just another nursing job—and a traditional Monday-through-Friday schedule isn’t for you—we’d love to meet you.
