Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join our Endoscopy team at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The Endoscopy team provides diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology and endoscopy services, working closely with physicians, registered nurses, and patients to support safe, high-quality patient care.

The Endoscopy Technician role offers the opportunity to develop hands-on clinical and technical skills while supporting patients and collaborating with a specialized gastroenterology team. Under the direct, on-site supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, the Endoscopy Technician performs direct and indirect patient care activities and provides technical support throughout endoscopy procedures.

The Endoscopy Technician Will:

• Assist the RN and physician with patient care, including collecting vital signs and other information needed to assess patient needs.
• Assist physicians and RNs during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures and support the established plan of care.
• Process patient specimens according to established procedures and guidelines.
• Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures, including administration of Fleet and tap water enemas as directed.
• Maintain endoscopy rooms, equipment, and supplies, including ordering and restocking supplies and cleaning and disinfecting equipment and endoscopes.
• Provide room turnover and technical support to help maintain an efficient and safe endoscopy environment.
• Respond to emergency situations as directed by the RN and/or physician.
• Complete required documentation and administrative tasks while maintaining a safe environment and complying with regulatory, professional, and organizational standards.

Required Skills

• No previous work experience required.
• Must demonstrate competency in reading and mathematics as verified by an aptitude test.
• Must successfully complete the orientation program.
• Must be capable of following detailed instructions, prioritizing multiple activities, and working effectively with others.
• Must have good hand-to-eye coordination, mechanical ability, and intact or corrected vision and hearing.
• Must be able to maintain continuous mental and visual attention and work independently in stressful or emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• 6 months to 1 year of experience in a hospital setting.
• Moderate physical strength and effort required to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of scope-of-practice considerations related to gastroenterology and endoscopy.

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
