Job Title: Product Manager, Essential Oils & Personal Care
Department: Global Product Innovation & Management
Reports to: Director, Essential Oils & Personal Care
Job Description: Owns the strategy, development, and performance of an assigned product portfolio, with scope flexing between Essential Oils and Personal Care & Household based on roadmap priorities and business need - functioning as the category manager for that portfolio, though the internal title reflects doTERRA's product management track. Leads the full lifecycle from concept through launch and post-launch performance, and directs cross-functional execution across R&D, purchasing, operations, regulatory, and creative services.
This role is for consumer packaged goods (CPG), not digital product. This role is fully onsite at doTERRA HQ in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
Job Responsibilities:
- Acts as category manager across an assigned portfolio - scope may span Essential Oils and Personal Care & Household based on current roadmap priorities, and shifts as business needs evolve.
- Defines the product roadmap opportunities, identifies white space, and prioritizes what gets built based on consumer need, competitive position, and business impact.
- Leads the product development process end to end, including formula direction, packaging, positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategy.
- Builds and defends business cases, including forecasting, margin, and investment tradeoffs, to gain leadership approval.
- Collaborates with project management and cross-functional teams throughout execution, bringing category insight and strategic context to keep development aligned with the vision.
- Owns product performance post-launch - tracks sales, margin, and consumer feedback, and recommends revisions, reformulations, or sunset decisions.
- Leads competitive and market research at a category level - translates findings into strategic recommendations, not just data collection.
- Mentors the work of Associate Product Managers or Product Coordinators supporting the portfolio.
- Represents the portfolio in leadership and cross-functional forums - communicates strategy, risk, and status with clarity and confidence.
- Accomplishes goals through ownership and accountability; identifies and acts on opportunities to add value beyond the immediate scope of the role.
- Represents new product launches at company events such as Global Convention and Leadership events, educating internal and field audiences on the strategy behind them.
Job Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of product management or product marketing experience, ideally in CPG.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
- Exposure to business case development, forecasting, or margin analysis.
- Comfortable operating across multiple product categories rather than a single fixed portfolio.
- Comfortable stepping into independent ownership with support in the early stages.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Strong written and verbal communication - able to present to leadership and influence decisions.
- Sound judgment under ambiguity and pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail at scale (managing multiple products/projects concurrently).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality throughout the product development process.
- Up to 10% travel required, including company events such as Global Convention and Leadership meetings.
