Who You Are

The Manager of College Success provides leadership for Elevation Scholars' College Success Department, overseeing college scholar coaching, staff supervision, financial support programs, curriculum, and department operations. This position leads efforts that promote scholar persistence, timely graduation, and successful post-graduate outcomes while maintaining a limited caseload of scholars.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven leader who is passionate about helping first-generation and high-achieving students thrive throughout college. They are equally comfortable leading people, developing systems, solving complex student challenges, managing budgets, and building meaningful relationships with scholars, staff, universities, and community partners.

What You'll Do

Department Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the College Success Coach while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of the College Success curriculum and scholar support model.
  • Ensure consistent coaching practices, documentation standards, communication, and scholar engagement across the department.
  • Lead strategy and planning of annual student programming including communications, logistics, and implementation of events or meetings such as Summer 201, Summer 301, workshops, webinars, and scholar engagement events.
  • Develop programming focused on college transition, academic success, financial literacy, career readiness, internship preparation, leadership development, Graduate school planning, life skills and wellness
  • Analyze departmental data and scholar outcomes to identify trends, evaluate effectiveness, and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Partner with the Director of Programs to establish departmental goals, evaluate outcomes, and improve student success strategies.
  • Ensure accurate data management, reporting, and documentation of college success programming.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, webinars and engage in networks that allow continuous learning of latest trends and tools essential to coaching.

 

College Success Coaching & Case Management

  • Manage a caseload of up to 30 scholars attending colleges across the nation to assist them in navigating their college environment, maximizing their college resources, and successfully reaching college graduation while documenting and monitoring student academic progress.
  • Lead department case management, identify at-risk scholars, coordinate interventions, and monitor persistence, academic progress, and graduation timelines.
  • Ensure consistent coaching practices, documentation, communication, and follow-up across the department.
  • Review data to strengthen coaching strategies and improve outcomes.

 

Financial Stewardship

  • Manage departmental and scholar support budgets totaling up to $500,000, ensuring responsible allocation of resources in support of departmental priorities and scholar success.
  • Oversee Elevation Scholars' wrap-around financial support program, including the development of individual support packages, review and approval of scholar support requests, and allocation of budgeted financial resources.
  • Analyze spending trends and forecast future financial needs to support strategic planning, departmental growth, and sustainable resource allocation.

Team & Organizational Support

  • Collaborate across programs, development, operations, finance, and external partners to ensure seamless scholar support.
  • Represent Elevation Scholars professionally throughout the community and be able to articulate the vision mission, goals and core values of the organization.
  • Support organization wide initiatives such as the Award selection process, fundraising events, strategic initiatives, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Perform other leadership responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred in Higher Education, Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in higher education, student success, academic advising, teaching, coaching, or related educational services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing programs.
  • Experience supporting first-generation or underrepresented students preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets or funding required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to motivate and coach students to take ownership of their own academic success.
  • Ability to relate and connect with young adults from challenged backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage emotionally challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and student success.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and successfully complete a background screening.
