Contract: 6 Months

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer II / P&ID Developer to create, update, and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for industrial process systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD experience, a solid understanding of piping, equipment, instrumentation, and control systems, and hands-on experience developing and modifying P&IDs. This role also requires field walkdowns to verify system configurations and ensure drawing accuracy.
Key Responsibilities

Create, revise, and maintain P&IDs using AutoCAD.

Develop drawings that accurately represent piping systems, equipment, instrumentation, control loops, and process flow.

Work closely with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and project teams to understand design requirements.

Incorporate equipment symbols, instrument details, piping layouts, control loops, and asset naming/numbering.

Review P&IDs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.

Maintain drawing revisions and support change-management processes.

Develop and update as-built P&IDs following construction or plant modifications.

Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and validate drawing information.

Support documentation of piping materials, valves, instruments, and related components.

Ensure drawings comply with applicable safety requirements and industry standards.

Coordinate changes and communicate drawing updates to project stakeholders.

Provide guidance and support to less experienced designers and drafters.
Required Qualifications
-
5–10 years of mechanical design experience.
-
Minimum 5 years of full-time AutoCAD experience as a Mechanical Designer required.

Previous experience with P&ID development and/or P&ID modifications required.

Strong understanding of industrial piping, equipment, instrumentation, and process systems.

Experience creating and maintaining engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Must be able to work onsite and perform field walkdowns as required.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field.

Experience in power generation, utilities, chemical processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilities.

Experience developing as-built drawings from field verification.

Knowledge of P&ID standards, process controls, valves, instrumentation, and piping systems.
