The entry level position of Office Associate - IT Support is under general supervision of the Information Services Director and performs detailed information technology duties. This position is responsible for assisting in configuring, updating and running the day to day operations of all of the City’s network, computer and communication systems.
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and communications systems.
- Repairs, replaces and upgrades computers and/or components and software, and integrates/monitors automated processes.
- Sets up and maintains user accounts and workstations.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Provides documentation and technical specifications to City staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
- Develops expertise to train staff on new technologies.
- Monitors regular backup operations and assists with implementing appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Provides technical support across the organization (which may be in person or remote), ensuring problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
- Actively monitors system and security records/logs to spot underlying trends and potential issues.
- Assists with infrastructure capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
- Assists with development and implementation of IT strategy and plans for the City.
- Basic understanding of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools.
- Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices. In-depth knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.

- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Must have valid State of Ohio Drivers License and be able to operate a motor vehicle upon hire.
- Must be able to be insured by the City’s insurance carrier if the position requires driving.
- Must be able to pass a CJIS background check to access secure parts of the campus.
