The Regional Materials Director is responsible for leading and optimizing all regional materials management functions across multiple manufacturing facilities. This position provides leadership and oversight for production planning alignment, inventory strategy, materials flow, warehousing coordination, logistics integration, PFEP execution, and inventory control processes to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
This role partners closely with their team of site Materials Managers and operational leadership teams to ensure consistent execution of enterprise standards while balancing regional operational needs. The Regional Materials Director identifies opportunities to improve service levels, inventory accuracy, material availability, process efficiency, and working capital performance across the region.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative leader with proven experience in manufacturing materials management, supply chain operations, Lean methodologies, and organizational leadership. This role requires strong analytical capability, change leadership, communication skills, and the ability to influence and align cross functional stakeholders across multiple locations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in operations management or supply chain
Experience: Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in materials management, procurement, or supply chain. Preferred experience in Lean Change Management, Manufacturing Systems, Production Planning, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Construction. CPIM, CPSM preferred.
Travel: 30-50%
Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and develop regional Materials teams across multiple manufacturing facilities while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Drive regional execution of enterprise Materials Management and Production Planning standards, processes, systems, governance practices, and methodologies
- Partner with plant leadership teams to ensure effective materials planning and execution that supports production schedules, customer commitments, and operational objectives
- Oversee regional materials management activities including Plan for Every Part (PFEP), inbound material flow, inventory control and accuracy, material storage and presentation, warehouse coordination, outbound material flow, and inventory policy and stocking strategies
- Establish and monitor regional KPIs related to inventory performance, material availability, service levels, inventory turns, schedule attainment, and operational efficiency
- Identify and mitigate materials related operational risks impacting production continuity, customer delivery, quality, or financial performance
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics, Planning and Scheduling, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Project Management teams to drive alignment and resolve cross functional challenges
- Lead regional continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles and structured problem-solving methodologies to improve flow, reduce waste, optimize inventory, and enhance operational performance
- Facilitate the adoption and sustainment of new systems, tools, technologies, and operational processes through effective change management practices
- Drive standardization and best practice sharing across manufacturing facilities to improve consistency, scalability, and operational performance
- Support capacity planning, business growth initiatives, new product introductions, and operational expansion activities within the region
- Provide leadership support and escalation management for critical material shortages, supplier constraints, inventory issues, and operational disruptions
- Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to support decision making, performance visibility, and strategic planning
- Develop organizational capability through coaching, mentorship, succession planning, and talent development of plant level Materials leaders
- Support long range operational and supply chain strategy development in partnership with senior leadership
- Serve as a key regional leader promoting safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all operations
- Support bid, proposal, and customer-related operational activities as required
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
