Description
The New School’s Development and Alumni Engagement (DAE) Office seeks a dynamic and talented Student Assistant to work with the Individual Giving Team. Reporting to the Individual Giving Director – and in collaboration with the team – the Student Assistant will provide part-time support (15 – 20 hours per week) of the university’s individual giving efforts by helping to foster a culture of philanthropy among students and assisting in outreach to alumni and donors.
They will receive on-the-job training and gain valuable skills in the professional areas of advancement, including fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, advancement services, and communications and marketing.
Key responsibilities:
Donor Outreach & Events
Assist with process of outreach for donor renewals via text, email, and mail
Assist in creating and reviewing content for email, social media, and other donor-facing materials including capturing campus and student content via photos and video
Provide support to the DAE’s donor events
Student Engagement & Philanthropy Promotion
Support the planning and execution of the Student Gift
Represent department at on-campus events including tabling and engagement activities
Collaborate with team to increase student presence and voice in Annual Giving communications
Campaign Support
Assist in the creation and implementation of the on-campus elements of fundraising initiatives, including Giving Tuesday and Giving Day
Support logistics, incentive distribution, and volunteer solicitor coordination
Lead or contribute to student-centered components
Help generate creative ideas to build excitement and awareness across campus
Administrative and Data Support
Provide administrative support to the Vice President including calendar management and data entry
Provide backup support of the Annual Fund inbox
Assist in reviewing donation details in Salesforce and in associating with specific campaigns
Participate in data maintenance efforts in partnership with the Advancement Operations team
Qualifications
Applicant must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate student at The New School
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Flexible, motivated, and dependable individual that can work well independently and in a team-based setting
Exercises good judgement and discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
Willingness to engage with peers and campus community members in person and online
Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, as well as willingness to learn new systems
Experience in content creation (photo, video, graphic design) is a plus
WORK MODE
This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.
Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee. #LI-DNI
HOURLY RATE: $17 per hour, 15-20 hours per week
