Description
Design Engineer (Controls)
We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Design Engineer (Controls) for one of our clients, a well-established and reputable leader in the industrial and engineering services sector. This person will perform electrical design work relating to diesel generating sets controls and its associated equipment, validation on the design, prepare documentations for production fabrication. The candidate must be well versed in generators controllers, PLC, HMI and SCADA.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the sales and costing teams to clarify design requirements and develop suitable proposals and technical solutions.
- Apply relevant ISO standards for generator design, independently carry out system sizing, and deliver practical and innovative control solutions.
- Prepare accurate bills of materials for production and work with the factory throughout manufacturing to ensure an efficient production process.
- Participate in design testing and validation, including the optimisation of controller parameters.
- Develop control logic that meets specified customer requirements and project objectives.
- Develop PLC programs from the ground up for synchronisation and control functions, and tailor HMI graphics to customer specifications.
- Configure and integrate generator controllers, PLCs, HMIs and interfaces with other equipment.
- Lead or contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives that reduce costs and enhance operational efficiency.
- Apply industrial automation communication protocols for equipment integration and system connectivity.
- Produce electrical design drawings, technical documentation, PLC programs and HMI programming documentation.
- Support procurement activities by identifying, engaging and qualifying suitable suppliers.
- Provide on-site technical assistance when required
Requirements
- A degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or
- A diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Sound knowledge of generator controllers, PLCs, HMIs and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in SEE Electrical.
- Working knowledge of industrial automation communication protocols.
- Experience in the generator or power-generation industry will be an advantage.
