Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Medical Assistant, you will keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site. To be successful in this role, you will enthusiastically help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.
- Updates demographic data and collects clinical information from each patient and/or parent as to the reason for the visit and enters this information into the chart clearly and concisely 95-98% of the time. Reviews medical record to ensure that all medical reports are accurately compiled and available for the provider before the patient examination 95-98% of the time.
- Performs and documents weight and vital signs on all patients per Clinic policy with no more than 1-2 errors in a 6 month period.
- Greets and responds to the public in a friendly, respectful manner so that the incidents of valid customer complaints are no more than 1-2 per year.
- Maintains smooth patient flow to maximize the utilization of the providers time by processing patient within 10 minutes after admission.
- Anticipates provider needs for treatment of patient and assists with medical procedures with no more than 1-2 provider complaints per year.
- Performs simple tests such as vision and hearing screening, dipstick urinalysis, and pregnancy tests with 96-98% accuracy; results are documented in patient's medical record with no more than 1-2 omissions per year.
Job Requirements
Required
- Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program.
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
- Ability to effectively interview patients and obtain comprehensive and accurate information.
- Display tact, discretion and confidentiality when dealing with physicians, patients and family members.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic techniques and basic medical office practices and procedures.
- Demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette, alphabetical and numeric filing, various billing processes and effective customer service principles.
