Job Description:
The Air Quality Laboratory Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Air Quality Laboratory, guaranteeing compliance with the technical and quality requirements associated with the ISO 17025 accreditation while also providing specialized technical support to the national network of air quality operation and maintenance technicians.
The role will act as a technical reference in air quality monitoring, analytical quality control, measurement equipment management, and technical problem resolution, contributing to the successful delivery of contracts and the achievement of established service standards.
This position requires 100% dedication and will play a key role in ensuring consistency, technical excellence, and quality across air quality monitoring activities nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
Air Quality Laboratory Management and Coordination
- Coordinate the daily activities of the Air Quality Laboratory, ensuring the correct execution of testing, calibration, verification, and quality control activities associated with analytical equipment and measurement systems.
- Ensure compliance with the established quality management system requirements in accordance with ISO 17025.
- Manage the traceability of equipment, reference standards, materials, and records related to laboratory activities.
- Review and continuously improve technical procedures, methodologies, and quality documentation.
- Support internal and external audits, accreditation assessments, and the ongoing maintenance of the laboratory accreditation.
Technical Support to the National Air Quality Network
- Provide specialized technical support to air quality operation and maintenance teams distributed throughout the country.
- Act as the technical reference for the resolution of issues related to analyzers, monitoring systems, measurement methodologies, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical support for the planning and execution of maintenance, calibration, and verification activities.
- Promote knowledge transfer between the laboratory and field technical teams, ensuring the consistent application of procedures and technical criteria.
- Support the investigation of deviations, root cause analysis, and the definition of corrective and preventive actions.
Quality Control and Service Improvement
- Monitor quality indicators related to air quality monitoring network operations.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, data analysis, and documentation required by clients and relevant authorities.
- Drive the standardization of methodologies and best practices across technical teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, technological developments, and process optimization related to environmental monitoring services.
Required Profile
Education
- University degree in Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent, or a second- or third-cycle university qualification related to atmospheric pollution.
- Additional training in quality management systems, analytical methods, environmental instrumentation, or applicable environmental regulations will be valued.
Experience and Technical Knowledge
- Experience managing environmental laboratories and/or quality systems accredited under ISO 17025.
- Knowledge of air pollutant monitoring equipment, measurement methodologies, and quality control procedures.
- Experience in air quality monitoring networks, data validation, and operational control.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to multidisciplinary teams working across different geographical locations.

Compensation:
The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between €30,900- €41,200 annually. DTN is a pay-for-performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market competitive variable pay and benefits.
