The Category Business Analyst, Party City plays an important role in helping Canadians celebrate life’s meaningful moments. Supporting one of Canadian Tire’s most creative, trend-driven businesses, you will help bring relevant and inspiring party assortments to life across stores and digital channels.

As a key member of the Party City buying team, you will support the Category Business Manager in planning, developing, and executing customer-focused assortments. You will work across analytics, product development, vendor management, and retail execution to help ensure our products are commercially strong, visually impactful, and delivered accurately and on time.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing creativity with analytics, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is excited to build a career in merchandising and category management.

In This Role, You Will

  • Analyze sales, margin, inventory, market, and customer data to identify category risks, opportunities, and recommended actions

  • Support assortment planning and line reviews by preparing analysis, product comparisons, presentations, and recommendations

  • Coordinate key category milestones and deliverables, ensuring timelines, decisions, and approvals remain on track

  • Support product development from initial concept through final execution, including samples, artwork, packaging, costing, and product information

  • Partner with vendors to follow up on submissions, samples, timelines, product details, and outstanding actions

  • Monitor emerging party, colour, design, licensed, social, and celebration trends to help identify new opportunities

  • Support seasonal and occasion-based planning across key celebrations, ensuring assortments are relevant, cohesive, and customer-focused

  • Maintain accurate SKU, vendor, pricing, product, and promotional information across internal systems and reporting tools

  • Review product samples, packaging, artwork, and digital content to help ensure brand consistency and product accuracy

  • Support promotional, in-store, and digital execution by collaborating with marketing, operations, supply chain, eCommerce, and other cross-functional partners

  • Track category performance and clearly communicate key wins, risks, and opportunities to support timely decision-making

  • Help create compelling product stories by connecting customer insights and trends with thoughtful assortment and presentation choices

  • Manage multiple priorities in a highly deadline-driven environment while maintaining strong attention to detail

  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture by sharing ideas, solving problems, and helping the team deliver against its goals

What You Bring

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, Data Analytics, or a related field; retail, merchandising, or analytical experience is an asset, and new graduates are welcome to apply

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into clear insights and practical recommendations

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data, reporting tools, and detailed product information

  • Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with product data, pricing, artwork, samples, and executional requirements

  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach for vendors, peers, and senior stakeholders

  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong working relationships across multiple teams

  • Curiosity about how customers celebrate, shop, and engage with party products across physical and digital channels

  • A strong interest in style, colour, design, social trends, and emerging celebration occasions

  • A hands-on, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to support the business wherever needed

  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment where priorities may shift based on seasonal timing, customer needs, and business opportunities

  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn, contribute, and grow within a high-performing team

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • You will help shape how Canadians celebrate birthdays, holidays, milestones, and everyday moments

  • You will work at the intersection of analytics, product, design, and customer storytelling

  • You will gain exposure to the complete retail process, from customer insights and product ideation to line reviews, vendor management, and omnichannel execution

  • You will have an opportunity to influence assortments that create excitement for customers

  • No two days will be the same, making this a great role for someone who enjoys variety, momentum, and hands-on learning

  • You will build a strong foundation in merchandising, category management, product development, and retail analytics

  • You will be part of a close-knit, supportive, and high-performing team that works hard, celebrates wins, and has fun along the way
