A Day in the Life

The Global Learning and Leadership Development Center of Excellence (CoE) enables enterprise-wide capability building, leadership development, and workforce transformation initiatives that support Medtronic's long-term business strategy. As part of this team, the AI Upskilling portfolio focuses on building AI fluency across the enterprise by driving adoption, capability development, and sustainable behavior change that helps employees leverage AI effectively in their work.

This role will be based onsite at Medtronic Operational Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota or is open to other Medtronic office locations globally.

         

         

The Program Director, AI Upskilling provides strategic leadership for enterprise AI capability building initiatives that help employees, leaders, and teams adopt and apply AI tools to drive business outcomes. This role leads a global portfolio focused on AI fluency, change adoption, governance, stakeholder engagement, and workforce transformation, while overseeing program teams and ensuring measurable organizational impact.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the enterprise AI upskilling strategy, learning ecosystem, and measurement framework aligned with business and talent priorities.

  • Lead enterprise-wide AI adoption initiatives that drive workforce capability, behavior change, and sustainable use of AI tools and technologies.

  • Build and scale communities of practice, change networks, and engagement strategies that reinforce AI capability development beyond formal learning programs.

  • Partner with business leaders, Human Resources Business Partners, Talent Management, and operational stakeholders to integrate AI capability building into workforce processes and talent strategies.

  • Establish governance frameworks that evaluate, prioritize, and oversee AI capability-building initiatives while ensuring accountability and transparency across the portfolio.

  • Lead, coach, and develop program managers, establishing clear objectives and accountability for program execution, outcomes, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage program budgets, resource allocation, portfolio planning, and vendor partnerships to support scalable global delivery.

  • Evaluate program effectiveness through data, metrics, and business outcomes, translating insights into recommendations that inform enterprise decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in leadership development, enterprise learning, workforce transformation, organizational capability building, or a related discipline with 7+ years of managerial experience (people or program) OR Advanced degree and Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in leadership development, enterprise learning, workforce transformation, organizational capability building, or a related discipline with 7+ years of managerial experience (people or program)

  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling AI literacy/upskilling strategies

  • Proven expertise in designing and delivering leadership or development programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience leading and developing teams of program managers in a global organization.

  • Experience partnering with external vendors, universities, business schools, or consulting organizations to deliver AI-enabled learning solutions.

  • Knowledge of learning measurement frameworks and methods used to evaluate capability-building and leadership development effectiveness.

  • Experience designing and delivering global programs across multiple regions, cultures, and geographies.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior leaders across complex organizational environments.

  • Experience managing programs, portfolios, budgets, and governance processes with measurable business outcomes.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$173,600.00 - $260,400.00

Pay range / Rango salarial / Intervalo salarial /Fascia retributiva / Tranche de salaire / Gehaltsband / Salaribereik:  Germany: 126,400.00 EUR - 189,600.00 EUR | Ireland: 130,560.00 EUR - 195,840.00 EUR | Netherlands: 128,080.00 EUR - 192,120.00 EUR | 

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
