Job Description:
The EDiscovery Senior Data Engineer will support the Mars in-house Forensics and eDiscovery Services team by managing eDiscovery data source insights, automating technical workstreams, and overseeing records management and operational metrics reporting. The ideal candidate will have excellent data engineering and programming skills, as well as a solid understanding of eDiscovery tools, workflows, and best practices. As the EDiscovery Senior Data Engineer, you will acquire and maintain comprehensive eDiscovery data source insight across business segments, oversee data source management throughout all stages of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), and develop scalable workflows enabling forensically sound data collection and processing across systems. The successful candidate will be working with a small, highly effective team of professionals. Solution ownership and attention to detail are critical for this position, as this role will be constantly analyzing diverse problem contexts to develop complex, scalable processes and is expected to deliver fast results for high-stakes projects.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Partner with in-house Digital Technologies professionals to map out eDiscovery data source availability across business segments and systems, and act as data source insight SME during the identification, preservation, and collection stages of the eDiscovery workstream
Oversee data preservation operations – including preserving available data sources, supporting data collection preparation, and maintaining trackability and audit readiness of data preservation records
Automate Purview eDiscovery case creation, preservation hold, search, and export workflows via Security & Compliance PowerShell and Microsoft Graph
Design and build automated sync pipelines from systems including but not limited to M365, Google Workspace, mobile devices, and endpoints into RelativityOne
Analyze use case context and customize reports for collection and processing; automate report generation from eDiscovery platforms
Support process engineering for project management and operational metrics reporting
What are we looking for?
5 (five) years of professional experience, of which 3 (three) or more are with a global CPG organization or a management consulting firm
3 (three) years of data insight or data engineering experience within the operational context of cybersecurity, digital forensics, eDiscovery, litigation support, or other relevant fields
Proven success in process engineering, able to identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
Strong organizational agility, able to learn how organizations work, navigate through organizational network and context effectively, and fast-track solutioning by leveraging institutional knowledge and organizational network
Hands-on experience processing data into Relativity or RelativityOne required; experience with Microsoft Purview eDiscovery highly preferred
Strong Python (or Go/TypeScript) with disciplined REST API practice — OAuth2, pagination, exponential backoff, asynchronous job polling
Strong PowerShell, including unattended execution with certificate-based authentication
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or equivalent
