This is a genuine dual-role opportunity combining local HR driving with hands-on forklift and depot operations. You'll complete local pickups and deliveries across Toowoomba and surrounding areas while also supporting loading, unloading and freight movements within our busy depot.
We're looking for someone with solid, recent experience behind the wheel and on the forklift who can confidently step into a fast-paced transport environment.
About the Role
Your primary responsibility will be operating HR vehicles, completing local pickups and multi-drop deliveries. Candidates with an HC licence will be highly regarded, as there may also be opportunities to complete ad-hoc HC movements when required.
When you're not on the road, you'll support depot operations by operating a forklift, loading and unloading trucks and trailers, staging freight and assisting with general yard activities.
What You'll Do
Complete local pickups and multi-drop deliveries throughout Toowoomba and surrounding areas.
Safely operate HR vehicles, with ad-hoc HC movements where appropriately licensed.
Complete deliveries and collections within scheduled timeframes.
Operate forklifts to load and unload trucks, trailers and pallets.
Move, stage and organise freight safely within the depot and yard.
Assist with freight sorting, scanning, palletising and general yard duties.
Ensure freight is loaded, secured and transported safely in accordance with company procedures and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
Safely restrain loads using straps, chains and other appropriate load-restraint equipment.
Complete delivery paperwork, run sheets, electronic manifests and scanning accurately.
Conduct daily vehicle and equipment pre-start inspections and report defects promptly.
Monitor freight condition and ensure customer goods are handled safely.
Plan and manage delivery runs efficiently to meet operational and customer requirements.
Provide professional and friendly customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Follow all WHS, hazard, near-miss and incident-reporting requirements.
Maintain trucks, forklifts, equipment, yard and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
What You'll Bring
Mandatory Requirements
Current and valid Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver Licence or higher.
Minimum 2 years of active commercial HR/HC driving experience.
Current High Risk Forklift Licence (LF).
Minimum 2 years of practical forklift operating experience, ideally within a busy transport depot, cross-dock, freight or warehouse environment.
Strong understanding of safe loading, unloading and load-restraint practices.
Ability to safely perform manual handling and physically demanding duties.
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Ability to follow instructions and work confidently and autonomously.
Excellent punctuality and time-management skills.
Strong communication and customer-service skills.
Full Australian working rights.
Highly Desirable
Heavy Combination (HC) Licence for ad-hoc HC movements.
Previous experience with local PUD and multi-drop deliveries.
Experience handling general freight within a busy transport or cross-dock environment.
Sound understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
