Description
As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen. All employees must also submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.
Responsibilities include: Providing advocacy services to victims of crime seeking protection orders, assisting victims with completing and processing Protection From Abuse and Protection From Stalking paperwork, screening victims and applications for emergency status, conducting safety planning with all victims seeking protection orders, and collaborating with court personnel to ensure access of services to victims, making referrals to social service agencies as necessary. The successful candidate will also be responsible for accompanying victims to daily hearings set for protection order applications, attending weekly Protection Form Abuse Docket to assist victims and the presiding Judge, attending domestic violence, and stalking related trainings, logging all contacts with victims via data input and tracking of contacts/services provided. This position will also require attending community/collaborative meetings as assigned, assisting with developing/improving protocols for programs to support victims of domestic violence or stalking, assisting with developing and conducting educational presentations/trainings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, experience with victim services, knowledge of lethality assessments and safety planning, excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of Kansas law and criminal justice process. The position also requires the ability to multitask and manages deadlines, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to work independently, be proficient in Microsoft Office. Will be required to attend 40- hour Kansas Academy for Victim Assistance within 18 months of hire date. Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
Salary: $21.86 - 28.58 per hour
