Program Summary
The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.
Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.
Job Summary
The Tire Repairer is responsible for inspecting, repairing, replacing, mounting, balancing, and maintaining tires and wheel assemblies on military tactical vehicles, combat systems, support equipment, trailers, and material handling equipment. This position supports vehicle readiness and mission requirements by diagnosing tire and wheel defects, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Army maintenance standards, technical manuals, and safety requirements. The Tire Repairer works closely with maintenance personnel to maintain fleet reliability and operational readiness.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect tires, wheels, and related components to identify wear, damage, defects, and serviceability issues.
- Repair, replace, mount, dismount, and balance tires on military and commercial vehicles, trailers, and support equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and service activities on tire and wheel assemblies in accordance with technical manuals and maintenance standards.
- Operate tire-changing, balancing, inflation, lifting, and related shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Identify causes of tire failures and recommend corrective actions to improve vehicle safety, performance, and readiness.
- Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and inspection documentation in accordance with organizational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures, environmental requirements, and hazardous material handling practices.
- Support fleet maintenance operations by coordinating with mechanics, inspectors, and supervisors to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational readiness.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience inspecting, repairing, replacing, mounting, and balancing tires on automotive, commercial, heavy-duty, or military vehicles.
- Knowledge of tire construction, tire wear patterns, wheel assemblies, inflation systems, and tire repair procedures.
- Ability to operate tire service equipment, hand tools, power tools, and lifting devices safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices related to tire servicing, vehicle maintenance, and shop operations.
- Ability to lift heavy materials, perform physically demanding work, and work in industrial or maintenance environments.
- Experience maintaining records and completing maintenance documentation is preferred.
- Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
