Description
The Press Operator 1 plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating paper converting machines to ensure the high-quality production of various documents. This role involves setting up and operating stock paper converting machines, performing machine maintenance, and conducting quality checks to meet client specifications. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring precision and attention to detail, especially in the sheeting process, to ensure that rolls of paper are cut to the correct dimensions.
Requirements
Press Operation and Setup:
- Set up and operate stock paper converting machines to produce a range of forms and cut sheets.
- Operate web-fed machines as required.
- Set vertical and horizontal perforations
Quality Control and Maintenance
- Make precise adjustments to the converting machines and paper to achieve high-quality outputs.
- Monitor equipment and job runs during production to ensure quality and consistency of finished products.
- Clean, oil, adjust, repair, and service equipment as needed to maintain optimal performance.
- Ensure that rolls of paper are sheeted to the correct dimensions (e.g., 8.5x11) by measuring parent rolls and making necessary adjustments during the sheeting process.
Technical and Miscellaneous Tasks
- Perform a variety of tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of converting techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or irregularities promptly to minimize downtime.
Your Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Lifting requirement of 50 pounds
- 2-3 years’ experience in a fast-paced, light industrial environment is preferred
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Team player, with a self-motivated, flexible, hands-on approach
- Prompt, reliable, and able to adapt to changing tasks
- Experience with offset printing is a plus
