Our food manufacturing client is looking for an experienced and hands-on Interim Finance Manager to take responsibility for the finance function in Hungary for a defined interim period.

 

INTERIM FINANCE MANAGER

 

The successful candidate will ensure the smooth and accurate operation of the finance and accounting function, provide reliable financial information to management, and support the business during a period of transition. The role requires someone who can quickly understand the existing processes, identify priorities, take ownership, and operate independently in a dynamic environment.

THE JOB

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day finance and accounting operations in Hungary
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Prepare management reports, financial analyses, and forecasts
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, receivables, and payables
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Monitor production costs, COGS, inventory, raw material costs, yields, waste, and manufacturing variances
• Ensure compliance with Hungarian accounting, tax, and statutory requirements
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other external partners
• Ensure timely completion of statutory reporting and tax-related obligations
• Review and improve existing finance processes, controls, and reporting routines
• Identify potential financial and operational risks and recommend appropriate actions
• Support management with financial analysis and decision-making
• Monitor costs and support cost-control initiatives
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data and accounting records
• Work closely with the local management team and, where applicable, Group Finance/HQ
• Support any finance-related projects, process improvements, or organizational changes during the interim assignment
• Provide continuity and stability within the finance function throughout the transition period

 THE PERSON

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• 7+ years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably including Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Senior Controller, or similar roles, ideally in food, FMCG, or manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting and tax regulations
• Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership
• Experience working in an international or multinational environment is an advantage
• Experience in interim, transformation, restructuring, or transition assignments is a strong plus
• Fluent in English, native Hungarian
• Strong MS Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• High level of accuracy, reliability, and business orientation
