Job Description:

The Project Coordinator - Strengthening Community Frontliners for Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Project  will lead and oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, of project activities across Nuwara Eliya district. The role will ensure effective coordination among project staff, government authorities, local stakeholders, community structures, partners, and other relevant actors, while maintaining strong accountability and quality standards throughout the project cycle.  He/She will also ensure the timely achievement and submission of all project deliverables, reports, and other contractual requirements, while proactively identifying implementation challenges and facilitating appropriate solutions to ensure the overall project goal and intended results are achieved.

Major Responsibilities

• Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of project activities in line with the approved work plan, in collaboration with the Project Manager, partners, government authorities, communities and other stakeholders.
• Ensure project and resources are managed in line with standard policies and requirements.
• Strong networking and collaboration with relevant Government Departments/Institutions, I/NGOs, Schools and other local stakeholders such as CBOs, Village Child Development Committees, Village Disaster Management Committees, Farmer Groups and Producer Groups for successful implementation of project interventions and advocacy.
• Conduct regular meetings with local partners and other organizations and monitor the physical and financial progress of project interventions carried out by them under the Grassroots Conflict Prevention (GRACE) project.
• Ensure required information to report in compliance with donor requirements and standards.
• Mobilize technical, human and financial resources, and assist stakeholders and community partners to identify and mobilize community resources needed for project implementation.
• Ensure project spending is in consistent with the planned project budget, prudent and spent in accordance with donor rules and regulations to ensure low risk audits
• Facilitate to timely produce and submit monthly, mid-year and Annual reports as per grant requirement

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Development Studies or Community development and Diploma related to DRR
• At least 3-4 years of experience in Community Development, Program / Project Coordination in an international organization preferably in the INGO context.
• Experience in project implementation, community mobilization and participatory approach would be an advantage.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil. Ability to work in a multilingual environment will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge and experience in capacity building for local stakeholders/partners in relation to DRR, community resilience and Livelihood
• Knowledge of international donor requirements, preferably EU, Global Fund and other multilateral funding agencies, including their policies and regulations.
• Experience in working for DRR or climate mitigation/adaptation sectors is an added qualification.
