Overview

The Epic Interface & Conversion Analyst I is role responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and support of Epic interfaces and data conversion processes. This role provides foundational support for interoperability between Epic and third-party applications by working on HL7, FHIR, and other integration solutions. The analyst supports data migration and conversion efforts while ensuring data integrity.

 

This is a hybrid role with approximately 3 days per month required onsite (as needed for the team). We are happy to offer the flexibility and work life balance to primarily work from home in this role.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field is preferred.Epic Certification:• Epic system training and certification are required and must align with assigned application responsibilities. Specific certification requirements and timelines, including allowances of up to one (1) year for new hires, will be documented in a position-specific addendum.• One plus years’ experience in IT is desired.• Basic knowledge of HL7, FHIR, APIs, and web services.• Familiarity with SQL, ETL processes, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).• Understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA).• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot data integration issues.

Responsibilities

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:1. Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of Epic interfaces using Epic Bridges, HL7, FHIR, APIs, and web services.2. Assist with configuration and troubleshooting interface engines to ensure smooth data exchange between Epic and third-party applications.3. Under general supervision, monitor and optimize interface performance, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and compliance.4. Assist in data conversion projects, extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from legacy systems into Epic.5. Under general supervision, validate data accuracy and troubleshoot discrepancies during the data migration and go-live process.6. Work closely with Epic application analysts, IT teams, and end users to ensure smooth data transition.7. Partner with clinical, financial, and IT teams to define integration and data conversion requirements.8. Under general supervision, work with vendors and third-party system providers to troubleshoot and optimize interfaces.9. Provide technical support and training to stakeholders on interface and data conversion processes.10. Participate in Epic system upgrades, testing, and validation related to interfaces and data migration.11. Under general supervision, ensure interfaces comply with regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, Meaningful Use, interoperability mandates).12. Assist in maintaining thorough documentation of interface specifications, data mappings, and conversion workflows.13. Support interface and conversion projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance.14. Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve data flow, and enhance system interoperability.15. Stay up to date with emerging healthcare integration standards and Epic updates.16. Epic Certification Addendum AcknowledgmentAll colleagues in Epic-designated roles are required to review, acknowledge, and sign the applicable Epic Certification Addendum as a condition of employment and continued assignment in an Epic role.
