What You Will Do:

We are looking for uniquely talented engineers to champion our key transformation shifts and identify new ways to advance Structural engineering. Pratt & Whitney's Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is growing in Asheville, NC, and we are seeking experienced, creative, and motivated Structures engineers to analyze and design the next generation of commercial and military airfoil hardware.

The Structures engineer will utilize state of the art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section airfoil (commercial and military).  The engineer will be part of an integrated product team with responsibilities for executing FEMs, performing living analyses, and writing technical reports. Additional responsibilities include communicating technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, as well as internal / external customers.  The candidate will also be a member of the broader HSE community and support strategic development and growth of Structures discipline health.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5+ years of engineering or aerospace experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree
  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams
  • Experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods
  • Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance


Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Analytical, problem solving and trending skills
  • Proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench
  • Experience working with HSE airfoil Structures standards
  • Advanced knowledge of LCF, TMF, HCF & FM failure modes
  • Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
