Summary
The Systems Engineer is a key member of the Server Operations team responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and performance of enterprise infrastructure. This role provides advanced Level 2 support for global Windows and Linux environments, proactively addresses security and vulnerability remediation, and contributes to the successful delivery of enterprise-scale infrastructure projects.
The Systems Engineer will leverage expertise in virtualization, systems administration, cloud infrastructure, identity and directory services, monitoring, and automation to maintain high system availability, strengthen the organization’s security posture, and scale infrastructure to support evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Server Operations & Support – Provide advanced administration and Level 2 infrastructure support for global Windows and Linux server environments, including performance management, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Systems Administration – Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows and Linux systems to ensure reliability, availability, and performance.
• Identity & Directory Services – Administer and maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Domain Controllers, NTP, and Certificate Services to provide secure and reliable identity and access management.
• Security & Vulnerability Management – Maintain system security policies and standards; proactively identify and remediate vulnerabilities; support patch management, security hardening, and compliance initiatives.
• Incident Management – Provide Level 2 infrastructure incident management and troubleshooting, including root-cause analysis, escalation, resolution, and post-incident follow-up.
• Monitoring & Automation – Use tools such as SCOM, Zabbix, SCCM, and Ansible Tower to monitor infrastructure performance, respond to alerts, troubleshoot issues, and automate configuration, patching, and deployment activities.
• Virtualization & Backup – Maintain and support virtual server environments, virtualization platforms, backup systems, and associated infrastructure to ensure availability and recoverability.
• Cloud Infrastructure – Engineer, operate, monitor, and optimize cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, Entra ID Connect, RBAC roles, DNS, and Site Recovery. Contribute to Landing Zone design, deployment, and scalability.
• Endpoint & Systems Monitoring – Support the evaluation and development of system and endpoint monitoring capabilities to improve visibility, availability, and proactive issue detection.
• Infrastructure Projects – Participate in the planning, implementation, and delivery of enterprise infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and technology improvements.
• Maintenance & Upgrades – Participate in planned weekend maintenance windows to support patching, upgrades, infrastructure changes, and other scheduled activities while minimizing business impact.
• On-Call Support – Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical infrastructure emergencies on an as-needed basis, including special or exceptional circumstances.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or server operations.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting large-scale Windows Server and virtualization environments.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, including Windows Server 2016–2025.
• Experience administering Linux server environments and common Linux distributions.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including:
o Active Directory
o Domain Controllers
o DNS
o DHCP
o Group Policy
o NTP
o Certificate Services
• Strong understanding of vulnerability remediation, security hardening, patch management, and infrastructure compliance.
• Experience with Level 2 infrastructure incident management, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience supporting cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, Entra ID Connect, RBAC, DNS, and Site Recovery.
• Understanding of virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability concepts.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with infrastructure, security, application, and other technical teams.
• Willingness to participate in planned maintenance windows and provide occasional after-hours support when required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools such as SCOM, Zabbix, and SCCM.
• Experience with automation and configuration management using Ansible Tower or similar technologies.
