ASL Fluent Community Integration Instructor

Job Title: ASL-Fluent Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Location: San Francisco, CA (In-Person / Community-Based)

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role: Are you an ASL-fluent caregiver or support professional looking to make a real impact? Toolworks is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing adults with disabilities become more independent and connected in their communities.

What You'll Do:

• Communicate daily using American Sign Language (ASL) to support Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing participants.
• Guide individuals through community resources, recreation, and volunteer or employment opportunities.
• Assist participants with navigating public transportation and building community safety awareness.
• Document participant progress with clear, timely case notes and service reports.
• Act as a dedicated caregiver, mentor, and advocate for participants' self-advocacy and independence.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Must have fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) at a level appropriate for providing direct instruction and support (proficiency may be assessed during the interview).
• Must have First Aid and CPR certification (or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire).
• Must have the ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the San Francisco community.
• Must have the ability to pass program-required background clearances.
• Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and automobile insurance (only required if taking on driving assignments).
• Preferred but not required: 2+ years of experience working as a caregiver, DSP, or community support instructor with adults with disabilities.
