Job Description Summary
Supervise the fulfilment and distribution of sales and transfer orders. Supervise warehouse and transportation services for the plant. Supervise packaging operations for various sized containers within the facility. Ensure relevant equipment is maintained and operational.Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Own daily and weekly distribution plans to meet customer commitments, maintain approved safety-stock levels, and optimize warehouse and transportation costs.
• Direct inbound and outbound bulk, packaged, customer, transfer, and external-warehouse shipments, including carrier coordination and required documentation.
• Supervise Material Handlers and packaging operations; set daily priorities, assign work, verify training, and hold the team accountable for safe, accurate, and timely execution.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and product status controls, including cycle-count discipline, reconciliation, and prevention of unauthorized movement of nonconforming material.
• Ensure warehouse and packaging equipment is inspected, maintained, available, and escalated for repair before service or safety is affected.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, Customer Service, Production, and Operations Support to resolve constraints and improve plan stability and product flow.
• Coordinate compliant waste and empty-container movements with HSE, suppliers, carriers, and approved disposal providers.
• Lead 5S and continuous-improvement activities that strengthen safety, quality, service, productivity, and cost performance.
General
In accordance with the company’s Quality Policy, responsible for and authorized to perform following actions as applicable:
• Support achieving plant Quality and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Objectives and other KPI goals as applicable.
• Initiate action to report and prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the product, process, and quality system.
• Control further processing or delivery of non-conforming product until the deficiencies or unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
• Use the Corrective and Preventative Action program and Internal Audit process to initiate, recommend and resolve product issues or quality system failures.
Additional Job Description
Knowledge/ Experience/ Skills required (qualifications, years of experience, training)
- 2 – 5 years of material handling experience in the chemical industry
- Working knowledge of DRP, MRP, Warehouse Management & Logistics
- Ability to learn and work in a J.D. Edwards ERP environment (or equivalent)
Normal workflow is self generated in response to normal business activities and customer requirements. Most require immediate response in order to meet customer demands or necessary paperwork to allow for movement of freight. Approval level is normally within the role of the position.
Interfaces / Working relationships (Internal to organization and external relationships, even how processes are inter-related)
- Directly supervises 4 Material Handlers that perform loading and unloading of bulk tank trucks, loading and unloading of packaged goods, and internal material product movements.
- Partner with production planning, operations support coordinator, plant buyer, and Customer Service to meet company objectives.
- Works closely with Production Supervisor to ensure efficient product flow through the facility.
- Acts as a backup to the Production Supervisor for vacation and other absence coverage.
- Responsible for timely reviews of daily and weekly distribution plans, inventory metrics
- Has the responsibility of improvement in plan stability, inventory levels, etc
Measure of Performance (examples below)
·Safety and compliance: recordable events, near-miss closure, training completion, audit findings, and corrective-action timeliness.
·Service: on-time, in-full delivery; past-due orders; backorders; and shipment-related customer complaints.
·Inventory and quality: inventory accuracy, cycle-count completion, reconciliation timeliness, and nonconforming-material control.
·Cost and productivity: transportation and warehouse cost versus budget, labor productivity, avoidable premium freight, and packaging throughput.
·Reliability and improvement: packaging-equipment availability, preventive-maintenance completion, 5S results, and verified improvement benefits.
·Targets, reporting cadence, and escalation thresholds are established annually by the Operations Manager and reviewed at least monthly.
Work Schedule
This is a traditional 5-day work week, day shift role, subject to other plant or company policies. Schedule flexibility, call-in support, or additional hours may be required to support plant operational needs. Remote work is not authorized for this position. Travel for business is expected only when necessary. Alternate work schedules may be used with approval and subject to plant business goals and objectives.
