At RSM Australia, we're more than just accountants. We're trusted advisors helping clients confidently navigate their financial future. Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced SMSF Senior Accountant to join our thriving team in Wagga Wagga.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of Self-Managed Super Funds, develop your technical expertise, mentor junior team members, and play a key role in delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

What You'll Be Doing

As an SMSF Senior Accountant, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of Self-Managed Super Funds while working closely with clients, auditors, and junior team members.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing SMSF financial statements, member statements and income tax returns

  • Processing and reviewing contributions, pensions and investment transactions in line with SMSF legislation

  • Preparing and completing SMSF audit workpapers and supporting documentation

  • Liaising with external auditors and responding to audit queries throughout the annual compliance process

  • Managing annual compliance obligations, lodgements and regulatory reporting requirements

  • Corresponding directly with clients and the ATO regarding fund compliance, lodgements and general enquiries

  • Monitoring contribution caps, pension minimums and other legislative requirements

  • Identifying accounting, compliance and regulatory risks and providing practical solutions

  • Working across Class Super and other cloud-based accounting platforms

  • Assisting with client meetings and preparing supporting documentation

  • Training, mentoring and supporting junior team members

  • Ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and within required timeframes

About you:

We're looking for someone who is passionate about SMSF, enjoys building relationships, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.

You'll bring:

  • A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline

  • CA qualification (or working towards completion)

  • 2-3+ years' experience in SMSF or Business Advisory accounting

  • Strong technical knowledge of SMSF compliance and reporting

  • Excellent communication and client service skills

  • High attention to detail and organisational skills

  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
