Purpose

This role provides regional leadership, vision, and strategic direction for medical affairs of the Solid tumours asset(s) and disease area(s) with a focus on Women’s Cancer, lung and GU, in collaboration with global and LOCs medical and regional cross-functional teams. This role is critical in proactively maximizing the positive impact within the Medical Value Proposition (MVP) and Medical Impact Framework (MIF) to ultimately improving patient care and health outcomes.

As the RMAL, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring that the medical teams in the countries for the related asset(s) and disease area(s) have the right capabilities for execution and performance of their medical operational plans.

The RMAL will play a key role in aligning with the Global strategy for the relevant asset(s) and disease area(s) with a focus on lung and GU and will bridge appropriately between Global, Region and LOC Medical as well as cross functional stakeholders within Medical and with Commercial and Market access/CGA counterparts with a focus on priority markets in the region.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the single point accountable for the of the Solid tumours asset(s) and disease area(s) with a focus on Women’s Cancer, lung and GU asset(s) and disease area(s) related Medical Affairs activities across the region.

  • Ensure the medical voice of the customer (HCP, Payers/Decision makers, Patient) and market is deeply understood, synthetized into medical actionable insights for global strategy and enable appropriate use of our medicines

  • Lead the development and execution of globally and cross-functionally aligned medical plans for the relevant asset(s) and disease area(s) within the region. This role will not duplicate the roles and responsibilities of the global or local medical affairs teams for the asset(s) and disease area(s).

  • Lead the scientific and external engagement strategy for the asset(s) and disease area(s) within the region. Build strong external networks among the regional scientific societies and institutions.

  • Co-create with regional evidence generation lead for the asset(s) and disease area(s), a consolidated regional perspective into long-term regional and global clinical and value evidence strategies.

  • Work closely with LOCs and regional Evidence Generation team to ensure understanding of LOC needs and accelerate approval timelines by the global organisation.

  • Ensure the medical input into LOCs’ Launch Excellence plan’ for relevant asset(s), this includes launch improvement workshops, LOC deep dives, and brand clinics.

  • Lead on capability development for relevant asset(s) and disease area(s) among LOC medical affairs teams, includes but is not limited to IMEPs.

  • Enhance quantitative and qualitative scientific share of voice at regional non promotional events: scientific congresses, healthcare conferences, regional summits and scientific workshops.

  • Foster the medical value proposition through seamless cross-functional partnership (Evidence, generation, Commercial, Market Access/CGA), to ensure patients access and outcome.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degre, Life Sciences preferred

  • Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate, specific and detailed knowledge in the relevant therapy area and be the single point of accountability for the Solid tumours asset(s) and disease area(s) with a focus on Women’s Cancer, lung and GU in the region

  • Extensive experience in working in pharmaceutical industry in Oncology

  • Experience working in medical affairs and in a matrix environment and managing senior stakeholders effectively

  • Strong business acumen with excellent strategic thinking, communication, stakeholders influencing and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships

  • Experience in evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based medicine

  • Track record of building strong internal and external networks

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and international cultural diversity

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English

  • Evidence of alignment to GSK Values, Code and standards and acts as role model to teams, peers and matrix stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MD/ Medical Degree / Pharmacy Degree

  • Good scientific acumen and data analysis and interpretation

  • Robust knowledge of regulatory / market access and reimbursement requirements, with understanding of drug development

  • Understanding of internal codes of practice and policies and external regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to assess evidence generation needs; review Phase IV protocols and ISSs for scientific merit
