Position: Electrical Design Engineer – Buildings

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Buildings with 5–10 years of experience in building services and electrical design. The candidate will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering designs for overseas and local projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines. The role involves multidisciplinary coordination, preparation of technical deliverables, and supporting project execution through the Global Design Centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for commercial, residential, institutional, infrastructure, and other building projects.
• Prepare electrical design calculations, load schedules, and equipment sizing.
• Design and develop electrical systems, including:Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) distribution systems.Power distribution and lighting systems.Emergency lighting and small power systems.Earthing and lightning protection systems.Cable sizing, voltage drop, and short-circuit calculations.Generator, UPS, and other essential power systems, where applicable.
• Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, equipment schedules, and technical drawings.
• Develop design specifications, reports, calculations, and other project deliverables.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other disciplines.
• Review project requirements, design inputs, and applicable local and international codes and standards.
• Conduct design reviews to ensure technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
• Support BIM/CAD modelling and multidisciplinary coordination, including clash detection and resolution.
• Coordinate with project managers, design leads, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support during project execution and respond to design-related queries.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables in line with project schedules and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical design for buildings and building services.
• Experience in designing electrical systems for commercial, residential, institutional, or mixed-use developments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, lighting, power systems, earthing, and lightning protection.
• Experience in preparing electrical calculations, layouts, schematics, specifications, and technical reports.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, such as IEC, BS, IS, or other project-specific standards.
• Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, ETAP, Dialux, or equivalent software, as applicable.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy or design organisation.

• Experience working on international and local building projects.
• Exposure to BIM-based design and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Knowledge of international building services standards and design practices.
• Experience with electrical design software and engineering calculations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
