About the role

As a Ministry Assistant (Children), this is your opportunity to lead and grow a vibrant Children & Families Ministry, discipling children, equipping parents, developing volunteer leaders, and creating meaningful connections that support the Menai Corps and wider church mission.

Reporting to the Ministry Leader, this is a permanent, part-time role offering 15 hours per week, based on-site in Menai, NSW.

How you will make an impact

• Lead and oversee engaging children’s ministry programs, events, and outreach activities.
• Build strong relationships with children and families, fostering connection to the life of the Corps.
• Develop and deliver age-appropriate faith and discipleship pathways for children aged 0–12.
• Equip and support parents in nurturing their children’s spiritual growth.
• Recruit, develop, and support volunteer leaders, ensuring a safe and positive ministry environment.
• Ensure ministry activities comply with TSA policies and maintain accurate records, reporting, and risk management processes.

What you will bring

• A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army
• An ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel
• Qualification in Ministry, Theology or related discipline or willingness to obtain or progressing toward a such a qualification (desirable).
• Demonstrated experience working with Children in a ministry, pastoral, or community context.
• Experience leading, developing, and supporting teams, including the ability to manage people, volunteers, and ministry activities effectively.
• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required
• A current NSW Drivers Licence
• A current and valid NSW Working With Children Check
