Job Description:
This role applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to oversee financial reporting, accounting and compliance for the City’s capital projects. This role will also analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Examples of Duties:
Maintain and reconcile capital project funds, including assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures.
Prepare journal entries to the general ledger related to capital projects and associated funding sources.
Monitor capital project budgets and analyze variances between budgeted and actual expenditures.
Record and track revenues from bonds, grants, contributions, and other capital funding sources.
Compile and submit documentation for reimbursements (bonds, grants, etc.)
Prepare documentation/schedules for annual audit and respond to auditor inquiries.
Research and resolve any discrepancies for all assigned governmental funds/accounts.
Utilize computerized accounting systems to maintain accurate records and generate financial and accounting reports.
Participates in special projects when needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in accounting or a related field and 2 two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Other Necessary Requirements:
May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
