This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.
*Please be aware that this position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding and obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.
As a Crypto/COMSEC Engineer - Level 3/4, you will lead the integration, configuration, and operational readiness of all cryptographic/end cryptographic units (ECUs) as well as the supporting key management infrastructure, ensuring proper installation, key loading, and periodic rekey of KG devices while maintaining all required compliance documentation. You will interface with system, security, and cyber teams to develop and maintain technical documentation, RMF controls, and operational procedures, and support accreditation activities, audits, and CONOPS for crypto operations, including failover, maintenance, and incident response.
This position can be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.
Basic Qualifications for Crypto/COMSEC Engineer - Level 3:
- 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelors; 3 years of relevant experience with Masters; 1 year of relevant experience with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Active Secret clearance required at the time of application
- Experience with key management plans, CCI handling, and incident response for secure comms
- Able and willing to work in mission-critical or 24/7 operational environments, including participation in on-call or incident response rotations
- Experience configuring and operating Type 1 (KG) encryption devices / IPsec in tactical or enterprise environments
- Ability to perform crypto device loading, keying, and zeroization procedures in accordance with COMSEC guidance
- Ability to interpret and implement system security requirements from government standards and accreditation packages
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing performance and interoperability issues in secure networks

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, vendor-specific crypto/COMSEC)
- Familiarity with NSA COMSEC doctrine, EKMS/Key Management Infrastructure (KMI), and associated directives and publications
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix or Windows administration for hosting crypto-related services (e.g., key servers, management consoles)
- Experience with secure communications architectures, including voice, data, SATCOM, and RF links
- Experience supporting accreditation with cryptographic controls (ATOs, CCRIs, COMSEC audits)
