Description
As AVP, Investment Portfolio Oversight & Strategy Reporting, you will lead the governance, performance measurement, and executive reporting of the US Segment’s strategic and transformation investment portfolio—ensuring investments are prioritized, governed, measured and reported with clarity and objectivity. Reporting to the VP, Head of Strategy & Transformation, you will serve as a trusted, independent advisor to senior leadership, providing the insight leaders need to understand whether investments are delivering and what to do next. You will also oversee the division’s recurring strategy reporting cycle, ensuring a consistent, accurate story across executive, board and investor materials.
Position Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve the investment governance framework for strategic and transformation investments, including intake standards, business-case requirements, stage-gates and decision rights, aligned with enterprise frameworks and controls.
- Maintain a single, trusted view of the investment portfolio and provide independent oversight of investment health across scope, financials, timeline, resourcing, risk and value.
- Lead portfolio performance reporting, including moving beyond status to insight - surfacing trends, trade-offs and recommended actions for leadership decisions.
- Provide the analytical foundation for investment prioritization, including scoring, scenario modelling, and funding visibility in partnership with Finance, and recommend where to accelerate, re-scope, pause or stop investments.
- Design and lead the benefits-realization framework, ensuring material investments have measurable outcomes that are baselined, tracked, and validated.
- Identify portfolio-level risks, dependencies and roadblocks early, bringing options and recommendations to decision-makers.
- Oversee the strategy reporting calendar and provide senior review of executive, board, and external disclosure content, ensuring accuracy, consistency and a single source of truth.
- Modernize reporting through automation, AI-enabled analytics and standardized tools.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering objectivity, accountability, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering or a related quantitative discipline; an MBA, advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CFA, CPA, PfMP) is an asset.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in strategy, portfolio management, investment governance, transformation, corporate finance or management consulting within a large, complex organization.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience building and developing high-performing analytical or advisory teams.
- Experience preparing and presenting executive- and board-level reporting, including oversight of recurring reporting cycles in a public company or regulated environment.
- Strong financial acumen, analytical rigor and executive communication skills, with the ability to distill complexity into a clear point of view and influence without direct authority.
- Experience in financial services (insurance, wealth or asset management preferred); advanced analytics and data-visualization skills (e.g., Power BI, AI Tools) are an asset.
When you join our team:
- We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.
- We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.
- As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
