Development Engineer, R&D - Shanghai

Overview

In order to support the continued growth of Trinseo Engineering Materials in Asia Pacific, we are seeking an additional R&D professional to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative solutions, with a primary focus on polycarbonate-based materials, to address the evolving needs of the consumer electronics market. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams and customers to drive new product development, technical innovation, and market growth.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical focal point for customers, identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Lead technical discussions with customers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate project execution.
• Provide technical support to strategic customers across Greater China.
• Partner closely with commercial team to identify unmet customer needs and translate them into product development opportunities.
• Develop innovative products, with a focus on customer-driven solutions and market needs.
• Generate high-quality technical reports, including CRI and other project documentation, to support product development and commercialization.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development and customer-facing technical support.
• Strong knowledge of polymer science, engineering plastics, and plastics processing technologies is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in engineering plastics formulation, compounding, injection molding, and application development is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with customers to understand technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
• Fluent in Mandarin with a good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
