What You Will Do
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Family Medicine Physician–Faculty member serves as a core educator and clinician within aFamily Medicine Residency Program based in a Community Health Center (CHC). This positionintegrates direct patient care, resident precepting and supervision, and academic leadership in healthequity, structural competency, and community engagement.
The faculty physician advances the mission of training family physicians who are prepared to delivercomprehensive, relationship-centered care and to address social determinants of health, structuralracism, and health inequities in underserved communities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
1. Clinical Care (Approx. 50–60%)
Provide comprehensive, full-spectrum family medicine care across the lifespan in a community healthcenter setting.Deliver team-based, patient-centered care, including chronic disease management, preventive services,women’s health, behavioral health integration, and care for patients with complex medical and socialneeds.Integrate screening and interventions for social determinants of health into routine clinical care.Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (behavioral health, pharmacy, social work,community health workers, care management).Participate in quality improvement and population health initiatives aligned with health equity goals.
2. Resident Precepting & Clinical Supervision (Approx. 20–30%)
Precept family medicine residents in continuity clinic and other ambulatory settings.Provide direct observation, formative feedback, and competency-based evaluation.Model structural competency, culturally responsive care, and trauma-informed practice.Support residents in integrating social justice principles into patient care and advocacy efforts.Participate in recruitment, advising, and mentorship of residents, with particular attention to supportingtrainees from underrepresented backgrounds.
3. Academic & Scholarly Activities (Approx. 10-20%)Develop and deliver curriculum in social justice, structural competency, population health, advocacy,and community engagement.Facilitate case-based conferences, didactics, and reflective learning sessions.Mentor residents in scholarly projects related to health equity, community-based participatoryresearch, quality improvement, or policy advocacy.Participate in faculty development, program evaluation, and accreditation activities.Engage in scholarly work (e.g., curriculum development, QI publication, community-engagedresearch, presentations).Community Engagement & AdvocacyPartner with community-based organizations, public health agencies, and advocacy groups.Support resident participation in community health needs assessments and community-driveninitiatives.Promote institutional practices that reflect social accountability and antiracist principles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work day is normally involving at least 40% of lifting, twisting, standing, bending and some activitiesthat involve walking will be required to be performed. The associate will be required to travel frommultiple health clinic sites and must be required to work flexible hours to accommodate needs ofvarious sites and community events. Supervision of multiple clinic sites may be applicable. ALouisiana driver’s license is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is normally performed in a health clinic with a normal/comfortable temperaturesetting. The associate will be provided DSCNO equipment (computer, laptop, cell phone, etc.) toperform necessary duties for the position. The majority of the work setting is sedentary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• MD or DO, Board Certified in Family Medicine• Eligible for state medical licensure• Demonstrated commitment to serving underserved populations• Experience teaching medical students or residents

What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Licensed Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Florida Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Board eligibility/certification in medical specialty required.
- Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
