The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: November 2026 - March 2027

Pay: $1,988.00/bi-weekly - $2,488.00/bi-weekly depending on position and location Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee all aspects of Human Resources and employee housing operations at the assigned location, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and National Park Service (NPS) standards.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and development for HR staff, Housing staff, Residence Coordinators, Dorm Custodians, and other assigned team members, ensuring departmental goals and service standards are met.
  • Serve as a trusted and confidential resource for employees, managers, and supervisors by addressing workplace concerns, resolving employee relations issues, and providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Advise and train managers and supervisors on employee relations, performance management, documentation, corrective action, disciplinary procedures, terminations, and compliance with company, state, federal, and NPS requirements.
  • Lead or support investigations involving harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, policy violations, housing concerns, or other sensitive matters, ensuring timely, objective, thorough, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Assess, triage, and appropriately escalate employee, housing, operational, or compliance concerns to HR leadership, Operations, Security, or NPS representatives as necessary.
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including recruitment support, onboarding, internal transfers, training, coaching, performance management, recognition programs, employee engagement initiatives, and legally compliant separations.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant personnel, housing, medical, investigative, and administrative records, ensuring timely communication and reporting to Human Resources leadership.
  • Ensure the timely processing and maintenance of employee information, payroll-related changes, personnel transactions, housing assignments, and required documentation.
  • Monitor staffing levels, turnover trends, retention metrics, and workforce needs; provide recommendations and support initiatives to improve employee retention, engagement, and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular audits of employee files, housing records, compliance documentation, and departmental processes; implement corrective actions and continuous process improvements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Operations, Security, Housing, NPS representatives, management teams, support departments, and other internal stakeholders to promote effective communication and collaboration.
  • Create and foster a safe, welcoming, respectful, and inclusive living and working environment by planning employee community-building activities, orientation programs, informational meetings, and engagement events.
  • Oversee employee housing operations, including room assignments, occupancy management, housing inspections, facility readiness, maintenance coordination, policy enforcement, and seasonal opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure housing assignments are administered fairly and consistently while considering operational needs, housing designations, seniority, and employee preferences.
  • Address employee housing and dormitory conduct concerns consistently and professionally, enforcing housing policies and coordinating with HR, Security, Operations, and NPS partners when necessary.
  • Guide housing and residence life staff in promoting community standards, resident accountability, conflict resolution, and appropriate escalation of employee concerns.
  • Coordinate employee illness, quarantine, and related housing processes, including documentation, communication, tracking, and collaboration with Security and Human Resources.
  • Maintain oversight of employee recreational vehicle (RV) sites, including assignments, policy compliance, maintenance coordination, and contractor communication where applicable.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, payroll records, supplies, and other operational resources, ensuring accurate reporting and responsible stewardship of company assets.
  • Utilize reports, metrics, and data analysis to support workforce planning, staffing assessments, compliance efforts, operational decision-making, and service improvements.
  • Participate in and contribute to department, property, and management meetings; communicate relevant information and initiatives effectively across teams.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to requests from employees, managers, operations teams, Security, HR leadership, and NPS representatives.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve HR, housing, and administrative processes to enhance employee experience, operational efficiency, compliance, and customer service.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of business and operational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills relating to training, time management, organization, leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication
  • Excellent follow-up skills with ability to shift priorities and restructure time and energies to perform in an optimal capacity. Make sound judgments both independently and/or collaboratively.     
  • HR Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three years Xanterra Yellowstone Management and/or HR experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to persuasively and professionally guide and motivate others and to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures, park/company guidelines and resources for cases with extenuating circumstances.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Possession of valid driver’s license and safe driving history preferred.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Personnel Policies and Procedures, park/company guidelines and resources for employee housing management.
  • General knowledge of data systems

Physical Requirements include:

  • Able to walk from HR office to offices of other location department managers daily.
  • Able to remain seated for periods of 30-120 minutes or longer.
  • Able to walk and/or stand a minimum of 30 minutes at a time.
  • Able to walk up to one mile continuously and Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Able to walk on uneven terrain, including icy and snow-covered areas.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 25 pounds and shovel snow.
