The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 3600+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, project Management, functional system testing, installation supervision, documentation and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest Operations hub. The India Operations Centre team at Chennai, Bangalore and Gurugram supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Hitachi Energy To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.
Mission Statement:
Service Sales & Tendering Team Manager is responsible for leading the Service Sales and Tendering team to deliver high-quality, timely and competitive offers for service business opportunities. The role includes managing team operations, resource allocation, competence development, stakeholder collaboration and people development. This position drives standardization, best-practice sharing, continuous improvement and team capability development while supporting business growth, customer satisfaction and operational excellence across global and local service sales requirements.
Your Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and People Development
- Lead, coach and mentor the Service Sales and Tendering team, fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance and development discussions, define individual goals, identify competency gaps and support career growth.
- Build team capability through structured onboarding, training, knowledge sharing and development of behavioral and functional competencies.
- Drive recruitment, onboarding and resource readiness to support business expansion and future scope growth.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, positive team dynamics and a healthy work environment.
Service Sales and Tendering Operations
- Manage end-to-end service sales and tendering activities, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, timelines, quality standards and business expectations.
- Oversee RFQ review, scope clarification, technical-commercial alignment, offer preparation, risk assessment, bid submission and post-offer support.
- Provide guidance on tendering process flow, commercial governance, risk identification and quality of offer submissions.
- Support scope addition, team scaling and long-term capability building to match evolving business needs.
Stakeholder and Business Collaboration
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, sales units, factories, HUBs, customers and cross-functional teams to understand requirements, provide updates and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain regular engagement with business counterparts to align priorities, review performance and address operational challenges.
Performance Management and Operational Excellence
- Drive and monitor key performance indicators such as On-Time Delivery, Hit rate, efficiency, utilization, NPS/customer satisfaction and quality of deliverables.
- Ensure effective workload planning, prioritization of critical cases and visibility of long-pending offers or execution gaps.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, process standardization, best-practice deployment and quality management system adherence.
- Develop and maintain a roadmap for team growth, productivity improvement, competency development and future technology/tool adoption.
Administrative and Financial Responsibilities
- Manage team administration, including resource planning, leave planning, onboarding support, infrastructure coordination and HR-related operational support.
- Support business-related financial coordination such as offer submission tracking, purchase order follow-up, invoicing coordination and payment collection follow-up where applicable.
- Ensure accurate reporting, timely updates and effective governance of team deliverables and business support activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
- Electrical Engineering or power/energy sector background will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Sales, Tendering, Front-End Sales, EPC or related functions.
- Prior experience in managing teams, working with global stakeholders and supporting multi-location or global business environments will be preferred.
- Experience in HV switchgear, Transformer, substations or service business.
Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of service sales, tendering process flow, commercial review, risk assessment and offer management.
- Ability to manage sales processes, stakeholder requirements, timelines, quality standards and business priorities.
- Working knowledge of CRM/Salesforce and Power BI will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational and risk management skills.

- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and team-building abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage team dynamics, resolve conflicts and maintain a positive work environment.
