Responsibilities
We are seeking an AVP or Senior Associate to build and maintain deal monitoring dashboards for our Asset-Based Finance (ABF) strategy. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the ABF strategy lead, designing scalable, well-governed dashboards within our Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environment that are easy to maintain and intuitive for the deal team to use with confidence. This role is well-suited for candidates who combine deep technical BI proficiency with investment management acumen and a strong point of view on how to build durable analytical solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Build, extend, and maintain the ABF deal monitoring dashboards within the established Power BI architecture, covering collateral performance, credit metrics, and exposure analysis at the deal level;
- Implement and evolve these dashboards in Microsoft Fabric using a template-based, reusable approach (common data models, common measures, standardized layouts, and consistent navigation), so that new deals and monitoring views can be added without rebuilding from scratch;
- Partner with the ABF deal team in working sessions and embedded engagements (including borrower calls and vendor data validation where relevant) to understand the monitoring decisions the dashboards need to support, validate outputs against business needs, and iterate based on live feedback;
- Bring strong judgment on BI design – filter placement, navigation, page focus, drill-through structure, dynamic titles, footnotes, and Oaktree-branded visual conventions – so that consistency across the dashboards is preserved as they scale;
- Write efficient SQL queries, DAX measures, and Power Query (M) scripts to support the deal monitoring models, ad-hoc analyses, and recurring deliverables;
- Develop PySpark notebooks within Microsoft Fabric and Azure environments for data transformation, automation, and large-scale data processing;
- Build and maintain Fabric dataflows, pipelines, and Azure-based data engineering workflows (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake Storage) to support scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions;
- Design and enforce semantic model security, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS), to protect sensitive deal and investor data;
- Balance flexibility with control by defining what each visual represents, scheduling appropriate refresh cadences, and constraining user interactions that could lead to misleading conclusions;
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across reporting platforms, with a non-negotiable bar on data model foundations, data validation, and clear naming and documentation;
- Contribute to BI design standards and best practices for the ABF deal monitoring dashboards, partnering closely with the strategy lead to surface trade-offs and work through requests that may compromise scalability, maintainability, or correctness
Qualifications
- 4 to 8+ years of experience in data analytics and BI development on cloud platforms, ideally within asset management, financial services, or another data-rich domain with comparable rigor;
- Education and experience that demonstrate both strong technical skills and working knowledge of the dataflows and tools used in the securitized markets or ABF – ideally as a technology resource embedded with ABF or securitized-credit investment teams, or as a senior engineer at an ABF-focused software or data firm (strongly preferred);
- Exposure to alternative investments required; asset-based finance or structured credit experience strongly preferred;
- Proficiency with a modern cloud data platform for building data pipelines, dataflows, lakehouse, and data warehouse solutions (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, or the AWS/GCP equivalents);
- Strong enterprise BI development skills, including semantic/data modeling, a calculation language, query/transformation tooling, and paginated reporting (Power BI with DAX and Power Query (M) is our environment; comparable experience in Tableau, Qlik, or Looker will be considered);
- Experience with SQL for querying, data modeling, and performance optimization, using any enterprise database or query environment (e.g., SSMS, Synapse, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift);
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and notebook-based development;
- Hands-on experience with a distributed data-processing framework such as (Py)Spark, in any cloud Spark environment (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Synapse Spark, or AWS EMR/Glue);
- Working knowledge of a major cloud data ecosystem and its orchestration, storage, and DevOps/CI-CD services (e.g., the Azure stack – Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake Storage, DevOps – or the equivalent AWS or GCP services);
- Understanding of data governance, reporting standards, and compliance frameworks
Personal Attributes
- Strong opinions on how to build BI and analytical solutions, with the judgment to flag concerns about scalability, maintainability, or data accuracy and the collaborative disposition to work through them with the strategy lead;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical design choices and trade-offs to senior stakeholders and deal-team partners;
- Pragmatic under deadline pressure: comfortable shipping a strong prototype as the basis for discussion, while holding a non-negotiable bar on data model design, data accuracy, and clear documentation;
- Detail-oriented and rigorous, with a natural problem-solving disposition and the resolve to research and validate before drawing conclusions;
- Passion for data-driven decision-making and continuous professional development;
- Self-motivated team player who works in close partnership with others rather than in a silo, with strong collaboration skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Base Salary Range
Senior Associate: $130,000 - $155,000
Assistant Vice President: $145,000 - $170,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
