Responsibilities
The HR Specialist-Benefits supports the daily functions of the Human Resources Benefits and Retirement Department and provides service excellence, support, and coordination of Community Health System’s benefit programs. The HR Specialist-Benefits should possess a demonstrated ability to proactively and effectively communicate, accurately process transactions, maintain records, critically think through issues, effectively answer inquiries, prioritize, and ensure appropriate follow-up when needed. Demonstrates excellent customer service, a professional image, and develops rapport to assist internal customers in navigating benefit options or inquires, as well as provide a positive first impression of CHS and the Human Resources department. Provides front desk reception and administrative support to department Director, benefits and retirement team. Work Schedule: Full-Time Onsite in Fresno. Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Daily Responsibilities:- Primary Focus: Heavy support for the retirement and pension side, including scanning and organizing physical records into electronic formats.
- Reception & Liaison Duties: Serving as a front-desk receptionist/liaison, handling incoming/outgoing traffic, answering phones via the ACD system, managing physician onboarding check-ins, and facilitating final check processes for terminated employees.
- Department Support: Ordering office supplies, maintaining supply rooms and coffee stations, managing internal team calendars, and assisting with file and report audits
Qualifications
Education- High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred
- Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for years of experience
- 2 years of experience in Human Resources or 4 years of administrative experience required
- Benefits and Retirement Administration preferred
- Strong administrative and file management capabilities (handling e-files, scanning, pension folders, and Iron Mountain archive processes).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook (calendar management, scheduling meetings, reserving conference rooms) and basic Excel (formatting, task keeping, tracking, basic formulas).
- Familiarity with Workday and ICIMS is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service, empathy, and professional demeanor.
- PHR - Professional in Human Resources preferred
- SHRM-CP - SHRM Certified Professional preferred
