POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Location: Winston Salem, NC

  • PRN - As needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.

  • Completion of Special Procedures Training Program or one year experience as a technologist in Special Procedures.

  • Completion of one week sterile technique training program to be provided by the OR education coordinator, if no prior Special Procedures experience or/with surgical technique

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.

  • CPR certification required - BLS.

  • Registered Cardiovascular-Interventional Technologist ( ARRT- CV or VI) preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies. Recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations.

  • Provides technologist coverage for 24-hour emergency endovascular surgical services.

  • Performs or assists in performing procedures and/or diagnostic tests and/or therapeutic exams, as well as maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and current departmental records and/or reports.

  • Provides instruction, education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote and improve quality patient care and maintains appropriate education/credentials to accomplish work objectives.

  • Performs routine analysis on imaging equipment to assure proper working conditions and a minimum of downtime.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good oral, written, and listening communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize clinical responsibilities

  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems

  • Training skills

  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases

  • Possibe exposure to the risk of bloodborne diseases

  • Possible exposure to toxic chemicals

  • Regular exposure to low-level radiation

  • Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements

  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances

  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

  • Handles emergency or crisis situations

  • May perform emergency care

  • Subject to long irregular hours

  • Requires judgment action which could result in the death of a patient Required protective equipment including eye protection, face protection, gown, lead apron, mask, sterile and non-sterile medical gloves
