Description

Job Description Summary

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) infrastructure is at the heart of the global energy transition — and the civil works that support converter stations, cable systems, and associated infrastructure are what make it all possible. As HVDC Civil Works Interface Manager, you are the connective tissue between civil engineering, electrical and mechanical packages, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) suppliers, EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) contractors, and the broader project team. Your work ensures that design decisions made across disciplines translate into coherent, buildable outcomes — delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
This is a senior role suited to someone with deep multidisciplinary coordination experience who thrives in the complexity of large-scale, multi-contractor infrastructure delivery.

Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Own the interface register — define, track, and drive closure of all civil-to-package interfaces across converter stations, GIS/AIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear / Air Insulated Switchgear) substations, HV (High Voltage) equipment layouts, cable routing, landfall points, buildings, foundations, drainage, and site development.

  • Coordinate engineering inputs and outputs — review civil deliverables for alignment with HVDC equipment requirements, verify vendor loads, dimensional constraints, installation tolerances, and maintenance access needs, and support resolution of interdisciplinary design conflicts.

  • Support construction readiness — contribute to constructability reviews, site sequencing plans, and coordination with construction managers on access, temporary works, logistics, and work-front availability; monitor interface risks that could affect field execution, schedule, or quality.

  • Manage schedule, risk, and change — identify interface dependencies and constraints, support integrated schedule development for civil and E&M (Electrical & Mechanical) activities, evaluate change impacts across packages, and escalate critical issues affecting cost, schedule, safety, or quality.

  • Serve as the interface focal point — act as the primary coordination point between the customer, engineering teams, civil contractors, OEMs, and package suppliers; support management of technical queries, deviations, and interface agreements, and ensure contractual responsibilities at interfaces are clearly understood by all parties.

  • Embed EHS and quality principles — promote safe-by-design and constructability thinking throughout the project lifecycle, ensure civil interface decisions support EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements, and support ROC (Readiness of Construction) reviews prior to site mobilization.

Who You Are

You are an experienced project interface professional who brings together technical depth in civil and structural engineering with the coordination skills needed to align complex, multi-stakeholder delivery environments. You communicate clearly across disciplines, anticipate where interfaces will create friction, and act early to resolve them.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent experience in large-scale infrastructure project delivery

  • Significant experience in large infrastructure, power transmission, substation, or HVDC project environments

  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary interfaces on EPC or major capital projects

  • Strong working knowledge of civil and structural works for substations or converter stations, including coordination with electrical and mechanical equipment requirements

  • Familiarity with project controls, schedule management, and document control processes

  • Experience working with international contractors and multi-package delivery models

  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and quality requirements for utility-scale infrastructure

Preferred

  • Direct experience on HVDC converter station projects

  • Exposure to cable systems, landfall design, or offshore-to-onshore interface management

  • Experience using interface management tools or document control platforms in a large project environment
