Job Title: PRN Creative Arts Therapist
Location: Split between - 11138 State Bridge Rd #100a, Alpharetta, GA 30022   AND  1642 Powers Ferry Rd Suite 200 Marietta, GA 30067 

Pay: $45 - $75/hr

Summary

High Focus Centers is seeking a passionate and creative Art Therapist or Music Therapist to provide expressive therapy services to adolescents and young adults participating in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This position will be responsible for facilitating 4–6 art and/or music therapy groups per week across our Marietta and Johns Creek locations. 

In addition, this role will develop and facilitate 2–4 weekly family education and parenting workshops designed to support parents and caregivers in understanding mental health diagnoses, improving communication, strengthening family systems, and learning effective strategies to support their loved one's recovery. 

This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both clients and their families through creative therapeutic interventions and psychoeducational programming. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Expressive Therapy Services 

  • Facilitate 4–6 weekly art therapy and/or music therapy groupsfor PHP and IOP clients. 
  • Develop engaging, age-appropriate therapeutic activities that support emotional expression, self-awareness, coping skills, resilience, and recovery. 
  • Incorporate evidence-based therapeutic approaches into expressive arts interventions. 
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive group environment. 
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure expressive therapy goals complement individual treatment plans. 
  • Document group participation and progress in accordance with program policies and regulatory requirements. 

 

Family Education & Parenting Workshops

  • Facilitate 2–4 weekly parent and caregiver workshopsacross Marietta and Johns Creek locations. 
  • Provide psychoeducation on:  
  • Anxiety disorders 
  • Depression and mood disorders 
  • Trauma-related disorders 
  • ADHD 
  • Substance use disorders (when applicable) 
  • Self-harm and suicide prevention awareness 
  • Emotional regulation and distress tolerance 
  • Family communication skills 
  • Boundary setting and behavior management 
  • Teach practical strategies for supporting adolescents and young adults through treatment and recovery. 
  • Create educational materials and workshop content that engages parents and caregivers. 
  • Encourage family participation and strengthen family involvement in the treatment process. 

Collaboration & Program Development 

  • Participate in treatment team meetings as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, program directors, and psychiatrists to support program goals. 
  • Contribute creative ideas for program enhancement and therapeutic programming. 
  • Assist with special therapeutic events and family engagement initiatives.  

Required Qualifications

Licensure, Education, & Experience

  • Master’s degree required; degree in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field preferred.
  • Current Georgia licensure or certification appropriate to discipline and state requirements, including one of the following:  
  • ATR or ATR-P
  • MT-BC
  • LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, or LCADC (LCADC acceptable for Substance Use Counseling) required.
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic groups with adolescents and/or young adults.
  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills. 
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between Marietta and Johns Creek locations. 

    Preferred 

    • Experience in PHP, IOP, outpatient behavioral health, or adolescent treatment settings. 
    • Knowledge of DBT, CBT, ACT, trauma-informed care, and family systems approaches. 
    • Experience providing family psychoeducation or parent support programming.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must seldom lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet & indoors. This position will be scheduled based on operational need & will be required to provide own transportation.  Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease, and/or infection from clients in the work environment.  Incumbent may be exposed to traumatic situations (i.e. psychiatric).
