Position Description:

The Center for Predictive Medicine seeks a Temporary Research Technician I to support the principal investigator in a laboratory conducting research on drug discovery and basic scientific studies for viral diseases.  The individual in this position will participate in the design, execution, and control of laboratory research studies and develop protocols and procedures.  The position requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, strong interpersonal and time management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and execution of research experiments.

  • Independently perform data acquisition and collect, collate, and analyze research experimental data.

  • Prepare data for publication and draft research papers and technical reports.

  • Perform critical analyses of literature relevant to research undertaken.  Assist in the preparation of technical reports, research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops.

  • Assist in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures.

  • Participate in the planning and development of goals for the research project and laboratory. Assist in the establishment of test controls, criteria, and research standards.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and experience in mouse behavioral study.

  • 6 months of research experience in a biomedical laboratory.

  • Documented experience working with laboratory animals, especially rodents.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
