Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/or Medical Assistant of Franciscan works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and physicians in the clinic setting. This position contributes to the assessment of the health status of individuals, participating in the development of the plan of care, implementing the appropriate care methods, and maintaining a safe and effective environment for all.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
MA/LPN
Heartland Internal Medicine, Full-time, schedule is 4, 10-hour shifts, or 5 8-hour shifts available.
- Plan and manage patient care according to each patient’s needs, and in collaboration with the Physician and Registered Nurse.
- Interview patients and record their medical history.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration.
- Administer prescribed medications or starts intravenous fluids, noting times and amounts on patients' charts.
- Observe patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action.
- Provide basic patient care or treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, or performing catheterizations.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma/GED
- Required Program Medical Assisting
- Required Program In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
