Description:

JLT Risk Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh, is seeking a high-impact General Manager, VIC/TAS to lead our Public Sector business across Victoria and Tasmania. Based in Melbourne, this is a senior leadership opportunity for a strategic, commercially minded leader who is passionate about delivering holistic, risk-based solutions to government and public sector clients.

Reporting to the Pacific Head of Public Sector, you will sit on the Public Sector Trading Board (Executive Leadership Team) and be accountable for the strategic and financial performance of the VIC/TAS operation, leading a team of approximately 50 colleagues.

We will count on you to:

  • Own the strategic and financial outcomes for the VIC/TAS business, delivering the business plan and divisional budget.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key public sector stakeholders both internally and externally, driving retention, satisfaction, and business expansion.
  • Identify, develop, and win new public sector clients and opportunities, maintaining a strong pipeline and leveraging referrals and networks.
  • Partner across divisional, segment, and regional leaders to deliver coordinated risk, insurance, and claims solutions.
  • Improve process efficiency, use data-led insights, and maintain strong controls to minimize E&O risk and leakage.
  • Build an engaged, inclusive culture; coach leaders; and develop capability, succession, and career pathways across the VIC/TAS team.

What you need to have:

  • Strategic, commercially minded leadership with a track record of delivering strong results.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to use performance insights to guide decisions.
  • Senior stakeholder influence—credible with clients, insurers, and internal leaders in a matrix environment.
  • Sound judgment and operational discipline, including process improvement and effective risk/control management.
  • Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail and an outcomes focus.
  • People leadership capability—coaching, developing talent, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • FSRA Tier 1 (Broking) Compliance (or equivalent) plus relevant business/financial services qualifications.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
