Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Plate Shop Foreman to join our client's team.
The Plate Shop Foreman will coordinate and supervise steel fabrication and plate-processing activities within a busy shipyard workshop. The position focuses on structural steel works connected to ship repair and refit projects.
The selected candidate will manage the daily activities of fabrication teams, allocate manpower and workshop resources, and monitor progress against established project schedules. The role requires strong technical knowledge of steel structures, fabrication processes, technical drawings, and shipyard safety procedures.
The Plate Shop Foreman will work closely with Production, Project Management, Quality, and HSE teams to ensure that all activities meet the required technical, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise plate shop, structural steel, and fabrication activities.
- Oversee the cutting, forming, fitting, assembly, repair, and replacement of steel components.
- Assign daily tasks, manage fabrication teams, and monitor progress against project deadlines.
- Review technical drawings, fabrication plans, project specifications, and quality requirements.
- Manage workshop resources, equipment, and manpower while ensuring compliance with HSE procedures.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, refit projects, or structural steel fabrication.
- Previous experience supervising workshop or fabrication teams.
- Strong knowledge of steel structures and shipyard fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Strong leadership, planning, organisational, and operational problem-solving skills.
