 Seaford House Therapeutic Residence is seeking a Clinical Team Leader



Summary 

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Clinical Team Leader oversees the therapeutic service components of the Seaford House Therapeutic Residence. This position provides clinical leadership, supervision, and coordination for therapeutic programming, case planning, referrals, intakes, clinical documentation, crisis assessment, and care coordination for youth served in the program. The Clinical Team Leader works collaboratively with program leadership, clinical staff, case management staff, residential staff, external providers, DFS, families, and other members of the youth’s service team to support safe, trauma-informed, clinically appropriate, and high-quality services. 


This position maintains a limited direct service caseload and provides short-term therapeutic intervention, child welfare case management, safety planning, multidisciplinary team coordination, and support to staff regarding youth mental health needs, clinical history, crisis response, and individualized intervention strategies.  Due to the nature of residential services, this position is a site-based, in-person role and the work schedule for this position may vary based on program needs and is not limited to traditional business hours. On-site evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities will be required to support youth, staff, and program operations.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership and Supervision

  • Oversees the therapeutic programming for the Seaford  House Therapeutic Residence under the supervision of the Program Manager. 
  • Provides supervision, guidance, and support to  assigned clinical and case management staff, including the Therapist and      Case Manager. 
  • Reviews and signs off on documentation for unlicensed  staff as appropriate and in accordance with agency, licensing,      accreditation, contractual, and professional standards. 
  • Supports staff in maintaining consistency between child plans, safety plans, and day-to-day clinical and residential      interventions. 
  • Provides coaching and guidance to Youth Advocate staff regarding youth mental health history, trauma history, clinical      needs, behavior concerns, individualized interventions, and recommended  staff responses. 
  • Participates in Seaford House leadership team  meetings and collaborates with the Program Manager and other program      leaders to support effective communication, teamwork, and professionalism.      
  • Promotes professional development among assigned staff and supports identification of training, coaching, and educational      development needs related to clinical service delivery. 

Direct Clinical and Case Management Services

  • Maintains a limited caseload of approximately three youth and provides direct child welfare case management services. 
  • Serves as lead Seaford House staff for assigned youth, coordinating internal team communication, service planning, care      coordination, and follow-up needs. 
  • Develops, monitors, and supports implementation of   Child Plans and related care coordination activities. 
  • Completes court reports and other required reports in a timely manner and participates in judicial proceedings as necessary. 
  • Leads or participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, treatment reviews, case planning meetings, and other service      coordination meetings as assigned. 
  • Provides short-term individual and group counseling or therapeutic intervention to youth as appropriate. 

Crisis Response and On-Call Support

  • Participates in the on-call clinical schedule with  the Therapist and Program Manager. 
  • Provides clinical consultation and support during  youth crises, including mental health crisis assessment, safety planning,      coordination of additional services, and support to staff regarding   appropriate clinical interventions. 
  • Provides consultation to program staff regarding  clinical concerns, youth behavior, crisis prevention, intervention planning, and post-crisis follow-up. 
  • May provide after-hours clinical consultation or emergency telephone coverage on a rotation basis as appropriate. 

Referrals, Intakes, and Admissions

  • Manages the program’s referral and intake process in  collaboration with the Program Manager and appropriate program staff. 
  • Coordinates referral activity and admission-related  interviews with youth, including review of referral information and      communication with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Manages intake processes for new residents, including  coordination of required documentation, scheduling, and communication to support timely admissions. 
  • Assists with assessment of youth needs, clinical  appropriateness, service needs, and transition planning as part of the      referral and intake process. 

Documentation, Quality, and Compliance

  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains timely   documentation, reports, and records in accordance with agency, state,      accreditation, licensing, contractual, and other applicable requirements. 
  • Evaluates clinical documentation and youth progress notes to support consistency with child plans, treatment goals, and      clinical expectations. 
  • Participates in quarterly case record reviews and supports follow-up related to clinical documentation, case planning, and      service coordination. 
  • Maintains agency standards regarding confidentiality, quality, productivity, and professional documentation. 
  • Supports implementation of program operations, policies and procedures, and departmental goals and objectives as they      relate to clinical and therapeutic service delivery. 

Miscellaneous

  • Participates in agency meetings, committees,  professional meetings, and community activities as assigned or approved. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or required.

Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related clinical field required. Current Delaware mental health license required. Clinical experience working with adolescents, youth with behavioral or emotional challenges, child welfare-involved youth, or youth in residential treatment preferred. Previous supervisory, team leadership, or clinical coordination experience preferred.

  • Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency’s service population. 
  • Strong working knowledge of trauma-informed care,   adolescent development, child welfare practice, crisis intervention, and      therapeutic service delivery. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, youth, families, providers, courts, DFS, and other stakeholders. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and accurately. 
  • Ability to review, interpret, and apply   documentation, service planning, licensing, accreditation, and contractual      requirements. 
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, coaching,   consultation, and support to staff. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedule based on program  needs, including evenings, weekends, and participating in an on-call      rotation. 
  • OCCL Regulations require all staff to have at least  forty hours of training each year. 
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid  driver’s license, which meets the requirements of the agency’s insurance      carrier.
