Job introduction:

 

The Global Cybersecurity (GCS) BISO team is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Solutions Engineer, to serve as a self-directed team leader, technical and organizational coach, and mentor working with cutting-edge security solutions across Liberty Mutual's physical data centers and cloud environments. This hands-on player-coach role spans all of our tech partner portfolios (IDE, CT, LIT and EST) and functions ranging from threat modeling and incident response to cyber consulting, GRC support, and security metrics.

 

The candidate will be operating in a self-directed manner, while acting as the team leader, technical and organizational coach and mentor, this role works with cutting edge security solutions that are located within Liberty Mutual physical data centers and cloud environments.

 

This role is a hands-on player coach across but not limited to the following functions and across all of our tech partner portfolios (IDE, CT, LIT and EST): Threat modeling, Incident response support, RAIC committees, Flagship support, Cyber consulting, GRC support, GCS / GDS project & ops, Security metrics (HOI), MSD / GCS initiatives.

 

A combination of broad technical and interpersonal skills is required. The ability to quickly and regularly context switch is also required varying from deep to shallow understanding depending on the topic at hand. Ability to proactively research areas where knowledge may not be known is required. Advocate and avid user of AI technologies in an intelligent manner is required. Juggling multiple complex priorities is a requirement while maintaining sound and level judgement. 

It is essential that the candidate is able to perform with a strong appreciation of demands on technical and business partners, as this team has a dotted line into our tech partners, while at the same time the necessity of building and maintaining a strong, sound and balanced cybersecurity posture and balancing the two with proper risk management.

Provides technical oversight and engineering solutions to most complex and strategic system and application development projects. Responsible for the implementation of technology by developing clear, comprehensive, and integrated system, technical and/or product recommendations which support business plans and long-term strategies. Oversees design reviews and frameworks for multiple product teams and large portfolios. Working closely with Solution Architects drives adoption of architecture standards to promote operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency and cost optimization into operating norms. Recognized as a thought leader within discipline who influences decisions made by senior leadership and advances the craft of engineering within our organization.  The candidate will be a life long learner and lead with humility and a service mindset to all.

 

About the job:

  • Understands, develops, innovates, and evangelizes business process improvements that address the most complex functional and technology gaps within multiple business processes.
  • Designs and supports curriculum to further the knowledge of technology enablers.
  • Develops technology enabled recommendations to address gaps within a single business process.
  • Proactively identifies potential impact on business strategy and recommends potential solutions as necessary.
  • Serves as an innovative team mentor and leader, supporting security projects or sub projects of significant complexity.
  • Enterprise level decision making behaviors and vision that require analytical, interpretative and creative thinking that may not conform to established patterns in order to solve security problems.
  • Industry leading communication and collaboration skills enabling the resource to effectively communicate complex technical concepts with confidentiality and sensitivity to diverse audiences as appropriate.
  • Interfaces with executive partners in multiple technology partner organizations on a regular basis and requires a high degree of discretion and diplomacy while maintaining directness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 12 to 15+ years of Cybersecurity experience with focus on Risk Management and Cybersecurity Program Management
  • Deep understanding of information security principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex security risks, translate technical details into business impact, and develop pragmatic mitigation plans.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to engage and influence senior business and technology leaders.
  • Experience leading security initiatives, managing projects, and driving cross-functional collaboration to achieve secure outcomes.
  • Familiarity with key security technologies and controls, including network security, application security, IAM, data protection, and incident response.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, balancing security needs with business objectives to enable secure innovation.
  • Professional Certification – CIAAP, CISM, CRISC, CISA CCSK/CSP preferred.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
