Overview

LMI seeks a Senior Acquisition and Program Management Task Lead to support Customs and Border Protection programs. The Task Lead will provide leadership and oversight across acquisition support for a large, complex set of CBP portfolios supporting mission-critical activities. The Task Lead leads a team of contractor acquisition and program management professionals, ensuring high-quality delivery of acquisition products and services, driving innovation and process improvements, and collaborating closely with DHS program managers, contracting officials, and other stakeholders. This role requires a strong customer-service mindset, deep acquisition expertise, and proactive engagement capabilities. This role requires on-site presence in Washington, DC five days per week.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise contractor acquisition and program management staff across multiple programs.
  • Set performance expectations, establish staff incentives, motivate team members, and promote professional growth and retention.
  • Manage workload distribution, staffing levels, hiring, and task execution to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.

Acquisition and Program Management Support & Execution

  • Provide subject matter expertise and advisory support regarding DHS acquisition practices and lifecycle governance applied to border patrol infrastructure and technology solutions across all customer portfolio areas.
  • Work with US Border Patrol to establish and monitor the program’s execution towards milestones, key events, and significant accomplishment criteria.
  • Oversee the development and review of acquisition presentations and documentation (e.g., acquisition strategies, market research, SOWs/PWSs, IGCEs, evaluation criteria).
  • Support enterprise-level acquisition activities.

Program Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government program managers for task performance, staffing, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other task leads and contractor portfolio managers to ensure integrated support across the program.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with government leaders and stakeholders; ensure clear and proactive communication.

Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Support cross-cutting collaboration activities including community of practice events to promote innovation and knowledge sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance acquisition execution, documentation quality, and efficiency.
  • Introduce innovative tools, approaches, and acquisition techniques aligned with DHS mission needs and federal procurement regulations.
  • Resolve issues, remove roadblocks, and support continuous improvement across the program.

Quality, Compliance & Reporting

  • Monitor task performance; ensure all work meets quality, accuracy, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide regular task status updates, metrics, and briefings to government leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to DHS policies, FAR, HSAR, and applicable program guidance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in federal acquisition support, including hands-on experience across the acquisition lifecycle (DoD or DHS).
  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience managing teams of 50+ personnel, demonstrating task management, operational execution, staff development, and hiring.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), acquisition frameworks, processes, and governance (DoD or DHS).
  • Demonstrated success forming strong working relationships with government program managers and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and customer-engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, foster collaboration, and build a high-performing team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues, advise senior stakeholders, and drive results in complex acquisition environments.
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; an active U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation (BI) is required. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.

Desired:

  • DHS acquisition experience.
  • DAWIA/DACM certification, FAC-C/FAC-P/PM, or equivalent.
  • PMP or other program management certification.
  • Master’s degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.

 

Target salary range: $130,000 - $200,000
